“Classy country house retreat.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

An excellently furnished country house hotel situated in well maintained policies. Hotel is located not far from the main road but is completely secluded and quiet. The original house has been added to with an extension which internally and externally is in keeping with the original. Our room was in the original house but with all the modern conveniences for which one could wish. Dinner fully merits 9 out of 10, both for cuisine and service. Only slight disappointment was the fitness room where the equipment was limited in range and quantity.

Room Tip: Our room was on the first floor, at the front of the original house and overlooking the gardens. Dou...

My wife and I stayed here last night after I ran in the Alnwick half marathon. From the moment we arrived staff were very helpful and efficient, relaxing in the leisure facilities and afternoon tea in the morning room was exactly what was needed. Dinner, room and breakfast were excellent. Pleased we found this gem and will certainly return.

We have stayed here twice and have not been disappointed. We will definitely be back. Large, comfortable rooms, good food and friendly, helpful staff. There are nice lounges for a quiet after dinner drink or a coffee before bedtime. Great for relaxing and recharging the batteries.

Room Tip: We have twice had a good deal on an upgraded room via Hotel Connexions. The hotel stands in its own...

Came to Doxford Hall as it was the best possible place to stay during a recent visit to Alnwick. Absolutely loved the place, stayed for 2 nights. The rooms were very large (best I've experienced in the UK), the food was amazing! Took care of everything with a 4 coursed dinner and huge breakfast. It was unfortunate that it rained the entire time cause I would have loved to take a stroll through the garden. No complaints on this place at all.

My husband and I are 'regulars' at Doxford Hall. We were married there two years ago and continue to dine at the hotel and stay occasionally; for a special treat!
We particularly enjoy the Sunday lunch, which is great value for money and the food is scrumptious. We generally enjoy tea and coffee in the morning room following our lunch and a walk in the gardens. You are therefore able to enjoy a full afternoon at the hotel and are never rushed in/out, to make way for other guests.
We have always found the service exceptional, although we noticed recently that some of the 'old faces' have left and been replaced by new staff. To be honest the new staff are good but are not as attentive and polite as other staff we have met in the past. (E.g. all standing chatting together in the dining room in front of guests.)
The hotel is always immaculate and the rooms are comfortable, clean and enjoy lovely views over the gardens.
All in all I would highly recommend this place to all.
We cannot wait until our next trip!

Fell in love with this hotel the first time I visited so thought it was very appropriate to share this with my mother and family for her special birthday. It was their first trip to Doxford Hall and they left extremely impressed and enquiring about rooms as they would like to return. We enjoyed afternoon tea served to us by a waiter with an excellent eye for detail. My daughter was away from the table when we placed our drinks order so I ordered for her, he then took the time to find her and personally ask if the drink I had ordered was to her liking. This kind of service is outstanding and I have witnessed it many times whilst visiting Doxford Hall. I can't emphasise how beautiful this hotel is and how friendly all the staff are. I can't wait for my next visit, hope it is soon. Thank you for a wonderful experience again

Room Tip: Langley suite - a little more expensive but absolutely beautiful. Excellent views, very quiet. beaut...

Visted Doxford Hall with 3 relatives as part of my Nana's birthday surprise. The venue features stunning surroundings and beautifully presented and decorated rooms.
We had a delightful afternoon tea which included tea/coffee, a selection of tasty sandwiches and gorgeous cakes and scones, which we all thoroughly enjoyed! A big thank you in particular to our Waiter for the afternoon, Mark. His service and manner was absolutely impeccable throughout and he was very polite and friendly.

The grounds are picturesque and very-well maintained with some serene views, which made some beautiful photographs!
Well worth the travel and money paid, we all had an absolutely wonderful time and will definitely be returning in the future!
A huge thank you to all staff for making the afternoon such an enjoyable one. Would highly recommend Doxford Hall to anyone!
