We were impressed with the range of activities Sahara Services had to offer. We booked at the office in Marrakech and Jawad offered us a few alternatives to suit our budget. After a long bus ride to M'Hamid, we were picked up from the station and greeted with a 3 course meal - just what we needed after a long day. Rooms were basic and clean with the added bonus of air conditioning in the 45+ degree heat. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The next day "Red wine" (what he referred to himself as), showed us around a local Kasbah demonstrating how the local people live. This was followed by a trip around Hassans museum in... Which was both interesting and informative. After lunch, we were driven in a new jeep through the desert to Erg Chigaga en route stopping for photos. By chance we stopped at a Berbere camp where a marriage was taking place - a great experience. We were exceedingly impressed with the camp and its facilities; the proper beds, en suites, electricity and hot water. We enjoyed sand boarding, the camel trek and dinner in the afternoon/evening. Following our meal, our guide stated the stars were better a little away from the lights of the camp. Being two young female travellers, we felt content to be with the guide who had accompanied us throughout the day. However, we did not realise our guide had also invited the chef. Both men left us feeling very uncomfortable forcing us to return to our tent alone. The rest of the night we felt uneasy due to the isolation in the desert topped off by the behaviour of our guide and the chef. We were sure this wasn't a matter of course but for us, it ruined what would have been a perfect desert experience.
