“lovely location and good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

Had one night deal. Included dinner. This was great value. Room was good but a little old fashioned. Well located for access to other locations along the Clare coast. Food and service very good for dinner but breakfast service a bit scattered. Waitress had to be reminded about the tea and coffee twice. This is a big wedding venue and the foyer is very small and it was impossible to avoid the wedding group melee until they made their way to the function room. We could have had the sea view upgrade but in fairness we were advised by hotel that this could be noisy as it was located over the function room. We opted for room at side of building and there was no wedding noise here except when some guests were making their way to bed. Would not let this put me off going again though.

Room Tip: Avoid sea view at weekends to avoid wedding party noise.

Hi stayed in the Armada last weekend and would be happy to recommend this hotel to anyone. The views were the best I have ever seen. Management and staff were very friendly and helpful and food was amazing. I really couldnt fault this hotel and I am still talking about the location. Cant wait to return .

My husband and I are just back from a mid-week break at the Armada. Never knew this hotel existed and probably never would have dreamt of going such a distance only we got a groupon voucher to do so. But can I say, we will most definitely be returning to this amazing hotel. Armada Hotel is situated in Spanish Point, on the beautiful coastline of Co Clare.
Large, FREE carpaking. Isabel, who was on the reception desk offered us a great welcome and a very quick checkin. She had great knowledge of the local area and nothing was a bother. The bedroom had a kingsized and single bed. Flat screen TV, hairdryer, iron and tea/coffee making facilities. Good sized room, and what can I say, absolutely spectacular views.
On the first floor, you will find the reception, Flagship Bar, Pearl Restaurant and Ocean Bar.
The Ocean Bar and Pearl Restaurant overlook the sea. In my opinion the best place on earth to enjoy a nice gin and tonic or scrumptious meal. Food was first class, in both the Restaurant and Flagship Bar. Excellent choice of menu. Very good value and portion sizes.
Flagship Bar opens at 5pm and although it doesnt offer the same stunning views, it does offer quaintness and a lovely roaring fire. Very homely. Great atmosphere, charming infact and again staff are very friendly and on the ball. Expecially Lucas. He wont let that glass of yours go empty, lol.
The Ocean Bar in the afternoon offers tea/coffee, snacks, scones etc and a good choice for a hearty lunch.
In conclusion, Armada top marks. You have thought of everything. Your staff are a real credit and your hotel is the perfect escape. We have already spoken to Marian, Accommodation Manager, regarding another little escape to what the hotel itself states, "where serenity meets the sea".

Stayed overnight at the Armada Hotel in Spanish Point on the way to visiting the Cliffs of Moher. Got a really cheap rate on hotels.com (literally 1/3 the regular price....even the person at the registration desk couldn't believe it). Free large parking lot. Nice bar on the first floor. we had drinks and later on a nice casual dinner at a reasonable price. It was off season so the place was fairly empty. the room was OK. Certainly nothing fancy. Clean, nicely furnished. Bathroom was OK. For the price, we got our money's worth. Free full breakfast in the morning was great in a large dining room overlooking the north Atlantic.
About a 20 minute or so drive to the Cliffs.

My husband and I have stayed in the armada many many times and we had our wedding reception there also, which we could not fault.
We stayed Sunday night in the hotel and were lucky to get a sea view room upgrade. It was wonderful we were snuggled up in the king size bed listening to the waves and wind crashed about outside.
The meal was lovely and we were engrossed watching the waves outside.
We had a wonderful breakfast the next morning and again the service was wonderful.
Friendliness of the people in the hotel is unreal, we love this hotel, we feel they do a great job, and it feels like home when we stay in the armada. We will definitely be back, summer or winter it’s a year round destination.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view. If you feel like splashing out try one of the tranquility suites.

Just back from a weekend break at the Armada. Check in was quick. We had 2 dinners included in the deal and the service was excellent. The same lady was managing hotel both nights and both mornings for breakfast. She always had a smile and tried to get us the best table with best view, small thing yet highly appreciated. The food was of very high standard with great detail taken on presentation and were not left wanting for anything. The view was spectacular as we ate looking out to the ocean. Breakfast was very nice with great range and ample amounts of everything. The room was amazing. Beds were really comfortable and rooms were big and spacious with spectacular views. Rooms were lovely and warm and with the couch and telly you could relax and unwind looking at waves crashing against rocks. Even though there was functions on both nights of our stay we did not hear a sound from the function itself. On the Saturday we went around the beach for a walk and on return called into the bar. The girl serving was lovely and we did not have to leave our seats by the open fire and when one of the male managers came in he came over and had a chat. Again a small thing but made the place feel so inviting and comfortable. If you are looking for an isolated spot with amazing views, great hotel and lovely staff, you dont have to look any further.

Great welcome, good check-in. A wedding party staying so a little noise from adjacent rooms but not too bad. We had a dinner included in our deal, so booked a table.
The first waiter was ok and took our order. The food was good, not the best, chicken tough but passable. The first waiter collected our starter plates, leaning straight across my boyfriend to pick up his side plate which still had his bread on which he was still eating, we didn't have the chance to say he still wanted it, the waiter just walked away. We decided to have a desert and coffee after our meal which wasn't included in the price, so we knew we'd have to pay extra. So we waited for our dinner plates to be cleared...and waited...and waited! Eventually, after half an hour, another waiter came to take them away...he didn't speak to us, at all! He didn't ask if we'd like to have a desert or anything further, just lifted the plates with not a smile or a word. We left.
Now how much revenue has the hotel lost in the dining room because of bad training/service??!!
Luckily, breakfast was amazing, the hotel's saving grace. The largest choice of food I've ever seen (except on a cruise to the Bahamas!)
Checkout and maid service was very good. A shame the dinner and service was not up to scratch.

Room Tip: Ask to be upgraded to a front room with a view.
