“Brilliant Hotel, Great Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2012

We had a brilliant midweek break here, it was pure relaxation from the moment we arrived. We were treated to an upgrade as we were repeat guests and it was spectacular, room complete with jacuzzi and panoramic views. The food was exceptional and the staff couldnt have been friendlier. Thanks to all especially Marion whom treated us like royalty, ably assisted by Jerome and Ian.

Room Tip: ocean view is a must

Had a ladies night, early check in and late check out..just what we needed. Staff friendly and efficient throughout, rooms comfortable with sea views, downside is we were directly above a wedding party so music boomed to the early hours. Had a snack in the small bar which was great. Dinner was disappointing in that our starter was incomplete shrimp with avacodo...no avacodo did bring it to attention of our waitress but problem was not rectified. Main course was good but overall I felt the menu was limited and overpriced. The hotel is in a great location we had a stroll on the beach as the weather was perfect. would recommend the hotel but not the menu.

Room Tip: as for a room which is not located above the function room

Arrived for a midweek brake, Mon 13th - Thursday16th Feb. with Girlfriend. 2.5 hour drive from Dublin on the M7 straight down.Check in was really quick and the reception staff were excellent. Room was great, really clean and big with a great view of the sea, House keeping were great, didnt annoy us once but serviced the room when we left for the day. Barfood was the best iv eaten, very fresh every day, quick service with a smile and polite conversation from the bar staff who seemed genuinely interested in us, the restaurant was the very same. I have nothing poor to say about this place. We were made feel welcome the minute we walked into the lobby and everyday of our stay. Every single member of staff was happy to see us and were always on hand if you wanted anything. The Hotel itself is in a great location on the beach and is in very quite area but only a 5 / 10 min drive to shops and the town. I was expecting it to be busy as it was midterm, but it was nice and quite. The hotel has lovely surroundings and decor and will be sure of another visit, i was so comfortable that by the 2nd night i got engaged to my girlfriend.:) This place is great for a break for couples of all ages, yound and old, No kids so cant comment, but being on the beach would be ideal during summer. Cant recommend it highly enough.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view room, breakfast by room service is great.

When myself and my boyfriend arrived here for a one night stay the winds were high and the waves were crashing hard against the cliffs - we laughed at the hotels marketing line "serenity by the sea" as it was far from serene all around us. However we left the Armada the following day feeling completely serene. I don't know if its the sea air or the calm relaxed atmosphere in the hotel but we checked out feeling blissful. The bedroom temperature was not hot but actually I think this contributed to our relaxation. We had a fantastic sea view from our bedroom. We dined in the restaurant that evening. The bar menu is not very exciting. Our meals were nice but not amazing. There are some nice walks around the area. There was live music in the bar that night. We opted for room service for breakfast - it was late but it was ok - toast was cold. Staff are friendly and helpful. Overall I have to say that we really did enjoy our night away for serenity by the sea.

Room Tip: Opt for sea view - well worth it

A welcome to be had when visiting the Armada hotel. Comfortable room with great view of the sea if you go for sea view room. Evening menu excellent however a delay in serving between courses spoilt the meal. Breakfast provided an excellent choice. Walks along the coast if you wish to clear the cobwebs. Overall, certainly will revisit.

enjoyed a weekend with my husband last may in this hotel. Though there was no swimming pool ( a must for us when we stay in hotels usually) the beach was literally outside our bedroom!
While we didn't venture into the sea, we loved the walks on the beach at midnight and early in the morning. Drives out to Quilty, Loop Head, etc. and great meals in the hotel made the weekend one of the most memorable we have had to date!
We will definitely be back!

Room Tip: I think you should go for a sea view room and even though ours was on the ground floor which i norma...

Had a 2night weekend break on my first ever visit to spanish point. Just want to make a few points - our room (104) was quite cold on our first night due to the fact that its L shaped room and the rad was on the internal wall inside the door and the beds were close the outer walls with 3 windows - this is really a planning problem but it just doesnt warm the room sufficiently. Another problem is the position of the toilet bowl in the bathroom - once the door is closed you could have the legs taken off you if your other guest decides to enter the room as it opens right close. Overall the room was ok but a little on the dull side. On the plus side, we had coffee in one of the restaurants on arrival and was presented with some lovely scones and homemade cookies which were all delicious and very pleasant staff in both reception and bar/restaurants. Breakfast and evening meal couldnt be faulted. We ate in both bar and restaurant and all very good. The music in the bar was a one man band who was pretty poor. I would have a broad range of music taste and he didnt seem to get any spark from anyone present in the bar. The bar could do with more seating and is a little too small and unfortunately Reception area which is next to it isnt condusive to sitting out there as an extension of the bar. Would i go back - would for the food but dont think i would look forward to the bedroom again - certainly the area around is spectacular and i would imagine the place would be super in the full sun in summertime.
Also, we could hear the guy singing in the bar quite clearly in our bedroom so i think it must have poor sound insulation overall.
