Me and my boyfriend stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in February for Valentine's Day. We chose this hotel because of its location and the fact it had an indoor pool and free buffet breakfast.
Check in went smoothly, after reading other reviews I was expecting a long wait.
The free wi-fi in the hotel is absolutely terrible! I even tried to pay for the €5 a day but that wouldn't work either. Even in the 'internet corner' it's almost impossible to get a decent signal.
There was an option to use the cable internet in your room for over €18 a day! I never bothered with that just incase it was the same slow speed as the wi-fi!
The hotel reception is beautifully decorated and well themed, this carries on into the hotel rooms. When we checked in they said all the king rooms were full so we were put in a family room on the ground floor with some bunkbeds in the corner. The rooms are very spacious and clean, the beds are comfy. The bathroom is lovely with a large bath.
There isn't a lot of storage space, just one wardrobe with a few hangers. No drawers at all. So I kept most of my clothes in my suitcase! Definitely not enough storage space for a family!
Most of the staff at the hotel are very nice and friendly, but we did have a couple of problems during our stay. A member of staff walked in our room unannounced while I was in the bath with the bathroom door open, I slammed the door shut and they just walked away without explaining who they were or apologising. My boyfriend went to reception to talk to them and after being passed on to the shift leader they apologised and said they'd phone us to see what they could do. We waited at least 45 minutes for them to phone and they said the member of staff did knock, even though both of us were in the room and didn't hear a thing. They didn't offer us anything and then brought some towels we requested but again made us wait around 30 minutes for them. Good thing we weren't in a rush!
The bus that takes you to Disneyland is bus 54, it comes every 20 - 30 minutes and stops outside of reception. It gets extremely busy and they will wait until you are completely sardined in before going anywhere. Certain guests don't believe in queuing and will push in front of you but It's not bad for a free bus!
You're pretty much stranded in the middle of nowhere. No shops for at least 6km a member of staff told us. Just overpriced Disney gift shops.
It's €3 for a can of coke and €2 for a small chocolate bar in the vending machines. The hotel gift shop has a few chocolate bars and overpriced bland disney sweets.
The bar serves food until 11pm but only really has pizza and pasta (same as room service menu) it's not great for people who don't eat cheese! It is well decorated and fits in with the hotel theme. But for a hotel this size and lack of shops around it, there is not enough food and drink available to cater for everyone.
There's no entertainment for children on a night time. Just a few overpriced arcade games and a tiny ball pool which led to large groups of children running about the hotel at night! We chose to go into the hotel's games room one night, it's the only thing to do there.. It's €2 for 1 token. We put a token into the football arcade game, it didn't register so my boyfriend went and told reception and they said they 'couldn't unlock the door, they don't have the key to get in. It closed at 10pm' I was still sat in there at this time with all the arcade games still running. They still refused to do anything after my boyfriend told them this. There's a clear sign on the door saying it's open until 12am (see photo). So we never got our token back and the receptionist didn't care and wasn't helpful in the slightest!
Good luck trying to get food after 6pm without a reservation at the Disney village! We called Disney before we got there and asked if we could make reservation at Planet Hollywood but were told they aren't taking any. It was packed every night! The minimum wait at any restaurant was 45 minutes and the queues were out of the doors! The LaGrange buffet said it was full all night and no tables would be available!
We decided to go back to the hotel and eat in the hotel's buffet restaurant. We were put off after reading some reviews but had no choice! It is expensive at €29pp but it was actually really nice! It had 2 different types of beef and veal, fresh salmon and cold seafood options. There was a mixture of tarts and fresh fruit for dessert. Soft drinks are €4.50 each so they are a little more expensive than the Disney places. The staff were very friendly and helpful and it wasn't packed like at Disney.
Overall the hotel is a beautiful building with a great theme running throughout. But for a 4star hotel, it is very basic!
The pool is very small and is cramped with more than 6 people in it! The jacuzzi is constantly full with people trying to squeeze in where they can, which is rather uncomfortable.
The Reception can get extremely busy and some people will walk in front of the queue and get seen before you, very annoying!
Breakfast is okay for free, same food everyday. Small spicy sausages, watery scrambled egg, bland baked beans, cold friend potatoes and I didn't dare try anything else! The juice isn't very nice either, weird taste in the orange and the 'multifruit' just tastes like water.
I would say this hotel is more of a 3star hotel, there's nothing luxury about it, it's all very basic and just seems to provide the minimum amount necessary!
I wouldn't stay here again, we got a great deal for this place but if I had paid full price I would feel even more robbed! I wouldn't recommend it in a hurry.
Listen out for the staff knocking on the door, we didn't hear it!..
