Our stay at Celeste Vida was fabulous. The casitas have a view of the ocean from the room and from the porch. They have a little kitchen and are spotless The beach has white sand and was almost deserted while we were there (April '08). Celeste Vida provides thatched palapas for shade and hammocks on the beach. Karen is a great host, has terrific ties to the pueblo and is able to make all sorts of arrangements, including a boat to view the flamingos. It's just a half mile walk into the village for excellent seafood.

“Paradise”

Celeste Vida in Celestun is run by a lovely owner, Karen (Ken and Wanda who we did not have the chance to meet)

She is helpful, kind and funny.

We rented a wonderful suite with kitchen, living room, bedroom. This place is more than clean, and the best equiped kitchen we ever did see on our trips.

This is a quiet place with a wonderful beach and smooth ocean easy to swim.

We can not really describe how wonderful this place is but try it and you will understand.

“Paradise Found!!!”

Perhaps it is the warm, emerald ocean; maybe it is the laid-back ambience; the glittering white sand beach. Whatever it is, add that to the genuine friendliness and helpfulness of the folks who own and operate Celeste Vida and you have a winning combination that drew us back two more times on our six week vacation in the Yucatan.

We had planned to stay only the first week of our vacation but had such a great experience that we re-arranged our itinerary to spend a few days more in the middle of our trip and then top it off by spending the entire last week there.

Beware!! It is intoxicating and addictive. It is extremely restful and invigorating, yet is only a 10 minute walk from the quaint fishing village of Celestun with its markets and restaurants. This part of the Yucatan is also home to hundreds of species of tropical birds and mammals including thousands of Flamingos.

The accomodations (one apartment and two casitas) are tastefully decorated and extremely clean. Because we were there on three different occasions during our vacation we actually stayed in all three units.

We have every intention of returning to Celeste Vida on our next vacation to Mexico. It was the highlight of our trip.

What a wonderfull place !.....we heard about this place by word of mouth and then found it on Tripadvisor. The reviews are very accurate as this place is much better than we ever thought it could be. Kenn/Karen/Wanda......and all those wonderfull dogs !
We were treated extra special by these nice friendly people (we felt like family) . They seem to know every local person in town, they speak very good Spanish, which was great when we needed to book the tours or for an interpretor.....horse back riding on the beach and Flamingo tour.... starting from the house (WOW what service! )......fresh seafood delivered to the door daily (if you like) ....very clean and well kept rooms with everything available to cook all your own meals. The house and yard were breath taking and your doorstep is...... the Gulf of Mexico. We were very fortunate to dine with the hosts....(FANTASTIC !) and even tasted food from a local Mayan friend that came over and cooked a true Mexican dish....priceless ! If you like to get out of the tourist traps and headaches......then don't miss this one.....it is truely a gem.

This is THE place to escape the regular tourist crowds and to have a lovely time hanging out near a quaint fishing village in comfort -- and with English-speaking company (when you want it). We spent a week at Casa de Celeste Vida with its wonderful hosts, Wanda, Kenn, & Karen and their hilarious "herd" of cocker spaniels. The rentals are impeccably clean, well stocked, and even have good North American mattresses for backs not accustomed to the hard Mexican variety. We had a wonderful time exploring the village on the guest bikes, walking on the white sand and near empty beaches, swimming in the green Gulf waters, lying in the hamacas under the thatched palapas, going on the flamingo tour, drinking margaritas, and having a grand "going away" dinner with the fabulous hosts. They made us feel like friends, yet cared for our every need. Who could ask for more?
