“quaint and cozy with a nice menu”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2013

This restaurant, located in Taipa, has a straightforward menu with simple but delicious dishes. One thing I enjoyed is the side servings of olives and bread; Didn't try cod fish in here, went for the steak. Better if you go with a group of people so you can taste different dishes.

“Just ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2013

I had dine in most of the Portuguese restaurant in Macao so I can only give my honest opinion. There is definitely no one standard Portuguese food. Every Portuguese restaurant are unique of its own. It really depend on individual preference. The main thing that distinct a really good Portuguese restaurant for my opinion is the combination of all factors; the food, quality, service, ambience and price. I think O Santos is OK; maybe we ordered the wrong food. Service wise is not something I would expect after all the good review in TA. It's always good to see Mr. Santos at the forefront welcoming you. Nevertheless, no one really clear our plates. The order taker can't even tell us what is nice when asked. Again it was just OK. Maybe we sat upstairs and were completely out of Mr. Santos sight.

“A wonderful rustic lunch in a relaxing setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2013

The menu is simple; the dishes are all classics and very well done. We much enjoyed the caldo verde and various salads. The grilled octopus and grilled babcalha -- topped with ample garlic and garnished with boiled potatoes and green vegetables -- were the best we have had in Macau, so succulent. Clams in white wine was a classic, and well executed. The dishes were happily accompanied by a bottle of vino verde. Last but not least, the deserts were fantastic: home-made ice cream and egg pudding were impressive. The coffee was tasty too. The waiting staff were friendly.

“Definitely worth a try”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

We had made a reservation but were still not hungry at that time. So, we thought we would just drop by to change the time. But we immediately changed our minds upon seeing the long queue. O Santos is a small place, with a simple, yet interesting decor. Every dish we ordered was good, and even though packed, service was also good and we didn't have to wait very long. No complaints.

Do make a reservation if you do not wish to wait, unless you wish to walk around the surrounding area.
