We stayed for 2 nights at the hotel and didn't want to leave. One of the reasons was probably 'coz we got a free upgrade to the Club room and it was just awesome. The Club room is spacious, has an amazing view of Macau and the icing on the cake were the Hermes amenities in the room.
Unfortunately we missed the free shuttle bus from Macau Ferry Terminal to the hotel. The shuttle bus is operated by Casino Ponte 16 and it operates only from 9 am to 10:45 pm. The bus departs from the Ferry Terminal to the hotel every 15-20 mintues and it takes around 10 to 15 minutes per trip. Its located just the opposite of Ferry Terminal. We had to shell out HKD 60 for a taxi since we missed the bus. This pinched especially since all the other hotels (Venetian, Grand Lisboa, MGM, etc.) have multiple buses waiting for their guests outside the Ferry Terminal.
The casino was great when we compared it to the Venetian and Grand Lisboa casinos. It was one of the few hotels that had a roulette table.
The hotel is located walking distance from the main city centre. The entire place was extremely festive especially since we visited very close to Chinese New Year. You can also take a long walk to the Grand Lisboa. However, the Wynn is quite far and better to take a cab.
If you want to visit Hard Rock or Venetian then take a local taxi. However, on the way back there is a free shuttle service which stops near the dock on the way to the airport. The dock is just 2 - 3 minutes walking distance from the Sofitel.
There was a K Corner supermarket right beside the hotel which was extremely convenient. Great place to grab some snacks if you're up late.
The service was great, staff was smiling and extremely helpful. HKD is used extensively in Macau. However if you have any MOP left then use it before you leave Macau since it isn't used in HK.
Koi Kei Bakery which is located just walking distance away seems to be a local favourite and worth trying. Lord Stows Bakery and Cafe at the Venetian was overrated but their food court was just amazing. A must try!
