“Beautiful old style large rooms in a great location near the Macau historic centre and shops”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

We had an enormous room, almost a suite according to my wife. It even had a two-seater sofa with a table. The bathroom was also very large, with a full bath and two showers in it (fixed and hand). Our view from the 11 th floor was very good and the hotel was very close to several casinos, including the Grand Lisboa.

We enjoyed the nearby World Heritage walk and Portugese food about the historic old centre of Macau.

The flat-sceen TV was a good size; the curtains were heavy black-outs (absolutely neccessary given the enormous casino lights nearby); the free wifi dropped out but a free cable connection was in the room (however a British power point plug / adaptor was necessary for battery charging); there was a coffee machine and even a complimentary shoe shine service.

A classic older-style but with a modern look, clean and comfortable. Only problem was that only some of the desk staff had decent english.

We were pleasantly surprised with our stay at this hotel. Having expected nothing more than your normal 2-3 star basics, we quickly saw that this hotel is much more than its grey facade. The rooms are quite large, flatscreen TV which even has some English channels, big shower/bath with plenty of hot water, mattress was firm but comfortable and even the breakfast surprised with plenty of Asian and Western choices. Top that with English speaking receptionists, attentive staff and a very close location for the old district and you get quite your money's worth.

Been to Macau for 1 night from HK. Arrival was easy, Free shuttle bus from ferry port to hotel, then fast check in
Location: Within walking distance from Lisboa & Wynn and 15 mins walk to the ruins of st. paul church
Another free shuttle to MGM & the venation then you have seen 80% of Macau. & from MGM you can take the bus to the Chinese border if you want to go Shenzen or Guangzhou
Rooms: Very well sized, window is not openable - very clean. Comfortable beds. Breakfast is very good with lot of western options

We chose this hotel based on all the good reviews on TA. It truly lived up to our expectations. The location is great, everywhere within walking distance. The rooms were good sized but not fantastic. We will stay here again if visiting Macau next time. Highly recommended.

This hotel is old but in a great location with world heritage places eg. Ruins of St Paul's Cathedral, Guia Fortess and very popular shopping Senado Square with less than 10 mins' walk from the hotel.

Grand Lisboa hotel is also nearby - less than 3 mins' walk.

Practically, > 90% of the hotels in Macau provides free shuttle bus service from/to the ferry terminal.

Pros:
Great location with no casino but plentiful of casinos located nearby less than 3 mins' walk
Sizable room with bathtub and free wifi
If you intend to watch the House of the Dancing Water show in CIty of Dreams Hotel, this is another reason you should stay at Hotel Sintra as the free shuttle bus service from City of Dreams Hotel is right at the door step.

Cons:
Old - time for some refurbishing

The standard room we stayed was clean and comfortable albeit a tad dated with worn out carpet. Service at the front desk was brisk and courteous with English speaking staff. But the most outstanding service rendered was the bell-hop, a charming young man in dark frame glasses was very friendly and helped us with our luggage.

On our first morning, we tried the hotel's buffet breakfast. The spread wasn't spectacular. We were flabbergasted when the restaurant manager presented us the bill while we were at the buffet table! Why couldn’t he wait for us to return to our table with the food before slapping us the bill. I guessed they must have experienced lots of runaways that made them resort to this tactless behavior.

Other than the bizarre experience at the restaurant and a rather slow elevator, we had an enjoyable 2 nights stay at this hotel. Free shuttle service is just a few steps from the main entrance and most of the heritage sites are within walking distance.

Note : I gave a very good rating is for all the hotel services EXCEPT the services in their restaurant.

Room Tip: We were told that only the deluxe rooms have views overlooking the Lisboa Hotel.
