“Only go if you want to Gamble”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

We booked this tour through Infinity Holidays before leaving Australia. Pickup from our hotel and guide were good. He arranged ferry tickets and customs declarations for us. Ferry trip was good and we were met by another guide in Macau.

We picked the only day in 3 years that Hong Kong had a black rain storm so not the best day for a tour. Bus was good and we visited the ruins of St Pauls Church and the Old City Walls. Rain made it unpleasant and there were many large Chinese tour groups in Macau that day. Had to visit a gift shop of their choice and some of us made purchases. Was very disappointed to find the exact same Macau plate in another shop for 1/3 of what I paid.

Visited a temple and a bakery shop they sell the custard/egg tarts and other food items which you can take back to Australia. Souvenir shop near the bakery is the cheap one so wait to get their before buying. Lunch was not the best, limited variety and was half gone when we got there and was not restocked. Most desserts was empty plates as lunch must have been nearly over when we arrived.

We were then taken to the city centre and shown to a factory that was supposed to have good brand clothes a discount prices. It was not worth the visit and we left after 5 minutes. Shops were up market and there are 34 Casinos in Macau. We visited one for a look and have coffee to escape the rain but as we are not gamblers did not visit the actual casino floor.

Disappointed we were not take to the Macau tower or Leal Senado Square or shown how to get there. These were on the brochure we had and would have been nice to visit.

I would not visit Macau again, the weather didn't help, but it was nice to see another country and see the Casinos. Long day about 11 hours including travelling time.

“Beware of illegal vendors”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2013

I went to Macau on last Saturday with my family of 5 via the ferry point at Tsim Sha Tsui. When we reached there, we saw many vendors selling tickets and they all had walkie-talkie with them. After observing the situation, we thought that it was ok to buy ferry tickets from them and they even gave us $10hkd discount per pax. So, we paid $330HKD per pax for 6 tickets and board the ferry with the tickets and also had our "return" ticket with us.

However, when we reached the Macau Ferry Point at 1030pm that very night, we realised that the return ticket that we held in hand could not allow us the queue for the return ferry. The officials there told us that we were supposed to change the "paper" ticket for the actual ferry ticket once we arrive at the macau habour that morning. However, the man that sold us the ticket did not inform us. And the situation was made worse when we found out that there were no more tickets to be exchanged for to allow us to board any of the ferries.

So we went to approach an immigration officer and he said "You can try your luck by buying tickets from one of those people at the bus booth." In the end, we paid extra 600hkd to get tickets back to HK. The most ridiculous part is the man who sold us the ticket actually gave us 5 other ferry tickets that are of the wrong timing!!! only the top one was for the 11pm slot.

I cannot believe what I experienced during my first Macau trip. Chinese man cheating fellow Chinese.! And it is even more disappointing to know that the officials are not doing anything abt it. but rather allowing these to happen!!

Please take note and dont let urself fall into such scams!

“Only if you are a casino lover”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2013

The only saving grace in Macau is the old part of it which is Portugese style since they ruled this place till recently. Otherwise Macau is primarily known for big lavish casinos. Me & my wife are not casino enthusiasts and hence found them boring places.
However the to & fro from HK is quiet easy as ferries like Turbojet ply from early morning till night. At the Macau end once you exit the ferry terminal, there will be buses waiting to take you to various casions. Since these buses are provided by these casinos only, so they are a free ride.

“Streets and bike taxi ride”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013

Instead of hopping in a regular taxi, take one of the bike taxis waiting for you at the ferry terminal. You can get two hours for about $30 and the driver will wait for you as you get off to see sights. Plus, the streets are way more interesting pedaling down the highway....and everyone on the buses and street look at you wishing they had done the same thing.

“Day activity in Macau”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013

Macau is a very tourist friendly city. Getting in and out from Hongkong is seamless with frequent ferries.
Visited the Venetian, Galaxy and Wynn.
Venetian by its sheer size and number of gaming tables and number of gamers is unbelievable. Galaxy is the latest and with two great lobbies. Wyn has its own charm as an upmarket casino. All worth a visit.
