Bumped in this place by chance as we were looking for a restaurant at the bottom of the hill which had closed. Lots of people sitting around , eating food from the stalls across the ice cream parlour too so you can get food (skewers of fish balls , meat, prawns / bought per piece) and end up with a pretty good ice-cream.
I like LemonCello Gelato because it offers an array of flavours which I have not tasted before . I tried the Durian flavoured which was to an acquired taste (sweet and smelly like a durian but nice in taste - extra 5 HK $ for this one), ginger was the best, very fiery, white chocolate , coconut , very fresh watermelon ice-cream, two types of guava also good - the worst was a tri-coloured blue, chocolate, pink with marshmallows which did not taste anything but sugar.Green tea flavoured is also an 'acquired' taste - I won't try it again ! Have a go , they change flavours every day -
You can ask to try before you buy, the girls were very kind and helpful. You get a tiny wooden stick and your choice of ice-cream then make sure you throw the sticks in the bin behind you - not putting sticks on the counter ! 35 - 45 HK £ for two scoops even small tub is a good price for Very good ice-cream - some places don't offer the choice of serving you 2 flavours for a piccolo tub ! And if you are into fancy ice-cream, don't forget to look at the fridge on the side, lovely ice-cream/biscuit desserts to die for ! Sometimes, there is a queue but everyone is very patient and queue goes fast. All in good order. Mostly young customers in their 20s. If you don't get a seat right by the shop, go 20 m up the hill a bit , past the fountain with azulejo tiles and there is a very large seating area up by the church and bigger fountain with lots of benches.
A real treat, try something you would not buy at your local supermarket home !
