We went up the fortress after going through the ruins of the cathedral, and it was worth our time. Going up will be a bit exhausting, it involves a fair amount of climbing stairs. The walls are not too medieval (not sure how to put it otherwise), but from up there, one has a reasonably nice view of some parts of northern Macau. There is also a museum on top, which we did not bother visiting.
