we stayed at this hotel for two days, three nights. booked triple bed room with my mom and sister. upon check in we got complimentary drinks so its nice specially when u are thirsty from your trip. we got a corner end room which has a window only to find out that the view is the windows of other rooms. theres a cable on tv only to find out only one english channel. breakfast has variety of choices so its nice. it is close to fishermans wharf, casinos and restaurants. the hotel has free shuttle service to and from ferry terminal-hotel-mainland boundery so u can just hop in to one free shuttle bus to another to go to one hotel to another or one location to another at no cost. too bad no shuttle from airport to hotel maybe they target more local people than foreign tourist. nice to see Filipino staffs there who are very accomodating and friendly. the cafe/bar serves affordable foods which is a must to try. indoor pool is warm so u never get cold or chill. i say its ok hotel but next time i try new hotels.

  • Liked — staff, food
  • Disliked — no view from the room, only one english channel

We booked direct at the hotel website 2months earlier for a standard room for HKD2080 (3 nights thur to sun). Upon check-in we requested for 1 King Bed & they actually upgraded us to a Deluxe Room with free internet access. Room was nice, clean & comfortable with a mini kitchen top. Free Shuttle bus to/from Ferry Terminal & Border. They gladly allowed late check-out until 2pm. 5mins to Yaohan shopping center, 10mins to Fisherman's Wharf/Sands. Good location & you can catch a public bus easily nearby. Photos (taken with flash) looks a bit old but the actual was not.

The good stuff:
1. Casa Real has a triple-sharing room that has 3 proper single beds (not foldaways) all lined next to each other in a large spacious room.
2. Great Location - Walking distance to Yaohan, the largest department store in Macau (5 minutes) and to the Ferry Terminal (10 minutes) and to Sands, one of the largest casinos (10 minutes). The Ferry Terminal has shuttle buses of every major hotel waiting at the road side for passengers to arrive. You really don't need to take cabs at all as the hotel shuttles go straight to Wynn, even Grand Waldo (Cotai) and Westin (Coloagne). Great way to save money!

The bad stuff:
1. No view - Perhaps bad luck but the tiny window at the corner of the spacious room just peers out to the adjacent building.
2. Toiletries are very basic. Seems to be a trend with all 3-star / 4-star hotels in Macau.
3. Unwelcoming room - Felt that the rooms were quiet, cold and drab, as the furniture / carpet was dated and dull (in browns). I didn't like coming back to my room every night as I just felt that the room was cold, almost haunted (can't explain why). Nothing unusual happened during my stay but I was quite glad to check out after 2 nights. When another reviewer mentioned about the "haunting", I'm not surprised at all.

Recommendation:
I've stayed in 4 hotels in Macau now. I would strongly recommend Beverly Plaza (near Lisboa) and Grand Waldo (on Cotai) but not so much Casa Real and Emperor Hotel, which are just OK.

  • Liked — That they have triple beds and the great location.
  • Disliked — Cold, unwelcoming feeling of the rooms. Lobby is great!

My girlfriend and I stayed over at Casa Real for 1 night before leaving for Hong Kong.. Check-in was fast and fuss-free, although the hotel only had 1 level of non-smoking rooms..Service was also above average and the staff was able to converse in English..

In terms of the rooms, once again its above average for the price..Soft comfortable beds, super powerful aircon, and nice bathroom..only complaint would be the TV channels were limited to only 'local' and chinese or cantonese cable channels...breakfast was typical continental style and quite sumptuous..

Taxi fare from the airport was around HK$60, but I've been to the Macau tower and Ruins of St Paul and the Taxi fare was less than HK$25 for both occasions..Fisherman's whare was also a stone's throw from the hotel, but its not yet fully opened, although I have to say the place was absolutely stunning at night and I am certain in 1-2 yrs time, it would be a tourist hotspot.

Overall, I would give it 4/5 for the hotel and well as the tourist experience.

  • Liked — Location, service
  • Disliked — Far from the airport

I was forced into staying here by the Travel Agent as the gud 1s (4 star and above) do not have Macau sight seeing pacages etc.
Anyways, the hotel has a very good lobby which is actually the ONLY good thing about this place.
Rooms are tiny with the most pathetic view of a construction site in Macau.
Casino is by far the smallest and dingy as per any Macau casino standard.
Room Service was quick in our requests with respect to veg meals.
Breakfast buffet are the same old story as with other hotels. Same ol cereals, eggs n the works...so Son't expect something exceptionally great. Just the usual run of the mill stuff.
The only advantage this hotel is that it is the nearest to the Ferry Terminal (in case you are reaching Macau by ferry from HK)
It is also walking distance from New Yeohan (a huge shopping store)
Overall, my family and I didn't enjoy our stay at Casa Real and would never recommend the same to anyone.
Stay if you want to be close to the Ferry terminal but away fro everything else in Macau.
