We stayed at the Cordial Mogan Playa in May and made our choice after reading the positive reviews on Tripadvisor and we weren't disappointed. The small minibus from the airport took us straight to the hotel and a complimentary drink, speedy check-in and porter help with our luggage. Our room was spacious and well appointed with a fantastic bathroom and great view across the first pool and towards reception. The only niggle .would be the twin beds that made an unromantic double and the less than efficient A/C but overall we loved our room. The choice of food was amazing at both breakfast and dinner - there was no way we could have eaten so well at local restaurants without spending a small fortune. Buying drinks did bump the price up a bit but the service was attentive and so worth the extra. The hotel is in a great location with spectacular grounds, great pools, good activity schedules and fun evening entertainment. It's all very well kept, clean and beautifully maintained.
The local beach is good with good quality water for swimming, a walk along the harbour is relaxing with plenty of places to stop for a drink and people watch. During our one week stay we visited the local market - massive and good for the odd bargain, went to the aqua park, visited a lovely beach at Amadores, took an underwater trip on the yellow submarine and a boat trip to Puerto Rico. We wished we could have stayed longer! Puerto Mogan was a lovely spot for a relaxing break and the Cordial must be the best hotel in the area. The hotel staff were all great especially the restaurant staff and the animation team. We were made welcome and left feeing pampered. This was our last holiday before the birth of our first child and is the probably one of the few places I would like to immediately return to with my new family. It's not the place to go for heady nightlife but is perfect for getting away and chilling out.

This hotel was the best one ever for our hoidays. The only downside for families is that you don't get a door between the rooms thus you can't leave your kids in one room, this means the adults needing to split up. Small point but important. Food was excellent. Everywhere was very clean. We did have one cockroach visit us. Very fast creature! But I suppose you have to expect this in that part of the world.

Having just returned from a week in the Cordial Mogan Playa, and having previously read the reviews on this site, I felt compelled to add my own opinion of this superb hotel and assure those lucky people yet to take their holiday there, that every spent will be considered worthwhile from the moment they step through the doors into the outstanding reception area with stained glass dome. On arrival we were welcomed with a choice of soft drink or champagne. Swiftly checked in and taken to our room which was spacious, clean, tastefully decorated and a patio larger than some rooms we have stayed in. We were overlooking one of the 2 swimming pools on the ground floor and it was perfect for us.
Having read some of the reviews here prior to our holiday, I was expecting to find the breakfast and evening meal a little repetitive and somewhat disappointing. ~So NOT true! There could not have been a wider choice and selection of buffet dishes to choose from and yes......you can have a Bucks Fizz every morning for breakfast if you wish! We were allocated a table on the first night which we kept for the week but you can request to be moved and eat al fresco if you wish. We did not use the Al la Carte restaurant so I cannot comment on this. Drinks were as you would expect from a 4 star plus hotel, a little more expensive but the ambience of the hotel in the evening in the palm filled lower bar, waterfalls and resident pianist playing made the little extra worthwhile.
We only used one of the swimming pools as it was nearer our accommodation but both are attractive with plenty of sunbeds and parasols. Just one tiny little point that I would mention is that around one of the pools there is a rim of gravel which I think was to give the effect of the beach (sand and water's edge). This looked very pretty and was maintained daily however, quite uncomfortable when walking on to enter and exit the pool.
The Spa pool was awesome! 10 Euros for two hours and well worth it! Jacuzzis, sauna, steam room, water jets, fountains and the beds in the pool with their bubbling jets were to die for.
Sadly we didn't find the time to use the gym...or come to that find it. Also there was the opportunity each morning to explore the archeological site just outside the hotel grounds but again, time did not allow. ~The grounds are exquisite and beautifully kept and not one cockroach in sight!
The staff were attentive and very friendly. We had a problem with our safe in the room and had to request for someone to check it on 3 occasions and each time, the response was immediate. As ardent coffee drinkers we did miss the usual tea & coffee tray generally provided in UK hotels however, on request for a deposit of 10 euros we hired a kettle and the restaurant kindly gave us cups and saucers and after a trip to the supermarket just across the road for coffee.....we were made up!
Just outside the hotel there is as mentioned the supermarket and a couple of holiday shops. Follow the 'fishes' paving slabs and in 8-10 minutes (stroll pace) you wil be in the fishing port of Mogan where there are amples restaurants, cafes and bars.
To sum up.......we would return to this hotel again and again and again! and I would go as far as to say it is probably the best hotel I have stayed in both abroad and in the UK! And for those of you yet to take your holiday there this year..................... I guarantee you will not be disappointed!

Arrived 27 June 2009 around 9.00pm, went directly for meal and then back to reception to book in and received glass of bubbly. Room wonderful, full balcony with sun all day long, stunning grounds with a magnificent pool area with clean beach towels provided daily. Service and food excellent, an all round brilliant holiday in a fantastic hotel which we will have no problem recommending to friends and family .
