What can be said about this hotel that hasn't been already? The reception staff are helpful and knowledgeble, we had two queries while we where there first was sorted out at the reception desk, the second when I coudn't open the room safe the receptionist came to our room within minutes of me reporting our problem and sorted it out straight away. The food, choice, amount, quality couldn't fault it. Pools and surrounding areas spotless, the people that maintain the pool areas, sunbeds and towels work to make your stay comfortable and were really helpful. The gardens are great and you discover a a new hidden corner avery day.The after dinner shows vary each night. These may not be to everyone's taste but you're not forced to go, we found it a pleasent way to to relax after dinner for an hour before going back to our room. The spa is great, we had a massage there that was worth every euro. I have had problems with my shoulders for some time but after a thereputic massage my shoulders still feel great. All in all a great place to stay for the price. The town is clean and the bars and restaurants around the harbour are great to have a drink in the afternoon or to spend some time at night.

In a complete departure from our usual type of holiday, and with a longing to feel the sun on our faces, we booked this hotel (mainly due to previous revues) at only three days notice, This part of Gran Canaria is very stark and quarry-like, but the hotel is like an oasis of style and calm and greenery. From the glass of Cava on arrival to the absolutely immaculate gardens and bedrooms it was just perfect for a week away.

The actual small town of Puerto de Mogan is also lovely - plenty of restaurants all built around a pretty harbour where you can while away the time and on reflection, we should maybe just have booked B&B rather than half board as its an easy walk down to the town and we could have tried a different meal every night. In the hotel, dinner was a buffet and it would maybe have been more relaxing to be served but thats just personal preference.

If you're thinking of booking, read Trip Advisors reviews and the ones on the hotel's own website - they're pretty accurate.

Hints and tips - avoid the Friday market (everyone says you should go, but although its huge, its full of tat). Do a complete circumnavigation of the dining room the first time you go to breakfast and also dinner BEFORE you start loading your plate (if you don't you'll inevitably miss out on something you wish you'd seen earlier ). Lunch on the terrace at the pool nearest to reception is good (very calm and civilised). Take time to stroll along all the paths wiithin the gardens and peep in to the courtyards - the variety of plants ans the colours of the flowers means there's a photo opportunity around every corner. And lastly, don't get a surprise when the light on your balcony goes out at 11pm - the hotel is very energy conscious!

Room Tip: Top floor to cut down noise

I stayed here for a week in late May with my boyfriend, and although we must have been the youngest couple there, we still had a great time. We arrived late on our first night and had missed dinner so we had to order room service but it meant we had a complimentary lunch on the last day. Food was really good, there was so much choice, all of good quality. Drinks not included on the half board basis but prices weren't too bad. We opted to charge all our drinks to the room so we only had to pay on departure. We also made use of the supermarket across the road for drinks on the balcony, made possible by a good sized fridge in each room. Room was lovely, very modern bathroom, although we did spot a few ants and my sheet had what looked like an old make up stain on it. Also one downside to the rooms is that the walls seem to be very thin. We were woken every morning by the dragging of furniture, it seems the room cleaners start early! Two beautiful swimming pools although we favoured the smaller one by the main reception, which seemed to attract fewer children. We didn't use the a la carte restaurant, but instead opted to swap our evening meal for lunch so we could eat down in the harbour which is stunning. My only niggle of the whole week was the wait to be served in some of the bars. We had been waiting for 10 minutes in La Fula pool bar, there was only one waiter so we didn't mind but it was frustrating when he served a spanish man who walked straight in. There isn't alot entertainment wise, a few tribute acts, but we didn't mind. We got the boat (which was lovely) to Puerto Rico which wasn't anything special, and you got harassed by reps trying to get you to go on excursions. Mogan itself is beautiful, the view point is well worth a walk up to for the amazing view at the top. Would visit this hotel again, its perfect for a chill out holiday.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on top floor to eliminate noise.

Hi just got back from this lovely hotel!! I was reccommended this hotel by a friend so was a little optomistic!!! The first couple of days were a worry as the hotel was full due to a Canarian weekend so all the spanish were there! It was off putting as the breakfast and dinners were so crowded and it felt like a cattle market! Still by the Monday it was quieter and what a difference!!! A much more relaxed atmosphere! The food was good with plenty of selection and I loved the breakfasts especially the ommelates and the champagne every morning!! The pool was very clean and you could change your beach towel everyday which was a bonus! There was plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas! We ate a couple of nights al-a-carte and would reccomend having a meal in the restaurant in the hotel! On our last day we checked out at 12.00 and then had the use of the courtesey room fully equipped with showers toilet and changing facilities which were of no extra charge so nice as usually you are charged extra by other holiday companies!! All in all a fab stay in a very well run and clean establishment!! We will be returning!!!

Room Tip: on your email correspodence ask !!!

I visited here with my husband for a much needed week away in the sun in April 2011. We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel and found Puerto Mogan itself to be charming :)

From the friendly staff at check-in to the beautiful surroundings we felt safe in our choice, the atrium is beautiful and really sets the tone for the rest of the resort. We were welcomed, after being the last drop-off (it is about 40 minutes from the airport), with a nice glass of cold cava, which certainly felt like a good start to our holiday.

The room was in the hotel side, it was a first floor room with a balcony, so we had a small garden area too. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious. The bathroom was modern with a separate toilet - very convenient. It was cleaned everyday but you could control when by using the door card (not exactly do not disturb but come back later or when you leave you can say the room is ready to be cleaned), I thought this was a nice touch. The cleaning staff always said hello when we passed them and looked genuinely happy to be working there. There was a complimentary bottle of water and wine plus a basket of fruit on arrival which was a super touch. My only niggle with the room was the people in there before us must have had food in there as we saw a few ants. There were small and only on a few occasions but it knocked a bit of the sparkle off, we didn't complain as it was a small issue to us and we liked our room so didn't want to change it. I'm sure if we had the hotel would've sorted it out.

We were on half board which worried me at first as I wasn't sure we would want to eat at the hotel every night. I shouldn't of worried though as the hotel is very accommodating, allowing you to swap (we did three times) to the lunch time buffet instead of dinner. We enjoyed all mealtimes as no matter where you ate there was a wide selection, catering for many nationalities and tastes. The food was fresh, often cooked in front of you, and there was a large variety. I defy you to go hungry here! We enjoyed it anyhow :) The only thing not included is of course drinks, you do pay restaurant prices for wine by the bottle etc but they often have two of three on specials and we really enjoyed them. A nice tip though, if you like a drink before dinner is to buy a bottle or two at the supermarket over the road to enjoy on your balcony, we did a couple of times (there are wine glasses in your room), a bottle of Friexnet cost approximately 7 euros (and if you like lager - especially Spanish - that was even cheaper :D).

However drinks served at the resort are value for money - the spirits and mixers especially so, however you many need two glasses so you can make several drinks from one serving! Beware of the cocktails, very very alcoholic and strong, slightly too strong for me.

Entertainment is provided with nightly shows, we only really saw one or two as we tended to have a wander or enjoy a drink on our balcony instead. It is fairly typical holiday camp style entertainment and gets repeated so you may want to check what it is before staying in the resort. Saying that the resort is extremely family friendly with two sittings for dinner and children being allowed in the bars etc. There's also activities during the day, a kids club and lots of pool activities (play equipment etc). The resort also has tennis courts, a spa and two big pools. The pools were well looked after and the plant life and gardens well maintained.

It felt a very safe place, both inside the gated resort and in Puerto Mogan itself. It was a five minute walk into the small town and marina area. The beach is small but clean and the bay and marina are extremely picturesque. We ate a few times near the marina but our favourite restaurant was a place called Zoo (it's by the car park just as you cross the small bridge towards the marina). The food and the food and the cocktails were fab and the waitress was super! You must try it, try the zoo burger - delish!

Our Thomson rep was very friendly, funny and gave great advice without being pushy. We booked a couple of excursions with them, one a helicopter ride (quite expensive but fun) and the other a VIP tour of the island - which was interesting but did get a bit samey. Both were good experiences as we got to see another side to Gran Canaria. We also caught the glass bottomed ferry into Puerto Rico against the advice of one of the Information reps. She was right, it is a bit of a dump. Not really for us, too many sports bars and lots of people. But we did find a nice place for lunch, across from the beach - where we had tapas that was yummy for a reasonable price, washed down by a large cold beer. Restaurante Caballito de Mar - try it especially if you like seafood. We also visited Playa del Ingles by local bus, not expensive and very easy, it is also built up but a good start for a walk to the sand dunes at Maspalomas.

We will return to Puerto Mogan in the future as it is a super resort, we particularly liked our stay at the Cordial Mogan too, highly recommend it!
