We stayed in Puerto de Mogan for over two weeks but I have to say that our dinner at Le Fontane was the worst meal we had during our holiday.
This little restaurant just above the street leading out of the town attracted our attention as it looked inviting from the outside and after reading the mainly excellent reviews on Trip Advisor we decided to give it a try and were full of expectations. There were a few tables outside but as it was a little chilly we asked for a table inside the restaurant. Perhaps we should have been warned by the fact that no other diners were present but we hoped that some would soon appear to keep us company, but apart from some people who came much later to sit outside on the terrace, we were all alone. Not a good omen! The décor was somewhat tatty and the waiter less than welcoming. The menus he gave us looked as if they had been around for years. They were all dog-eared and had a blurry coloured photo of Puerto de Mogan on the cover! Not a good start. The waiter brought some very un-appertising free 'nibbles' whilst we made our choices. We ordered a plate of mixed seafood to share as a starter but it was very unimaginative and the mussels were tough. For mains my partner ordered the escalope which he said wasn't very nice and I ordered the ravioli in walnut sauce which was actually quite good, but nothing special. We had half a bottle of the red house wine which was fairly ordinary. The best part of the meal was the complimentary glasses of limoncello that the waiter brought us with our bill. He said he'd made it himself and cheered up a bit. It was the best part of an otherwise pretty miserable evening. There are a lot of much nicer places to eat in the town in our opinion.
