“Golfers go for it!! You deserve it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2011

Have just spent three days at Wensum Valley in Norfolk & I have to say that it was a great gofing break. Two courses which suited golfers of all handicaps, the hotel was a very nice and friendly place, the food was exceptionally good and generous, nothing was too much trouble for the lovely staff. All in all I say "Gofers go for it" you deserve it

Reception very friendly, great choice on menu and big portions of great cooked food.
Room service -great , room was large, bathroom had large shower,no bath but was fine.
coffee and tea making, hairdryer, plenty of storage, huge comfy bed, tv, radio/clock alarm,
The grounds are pleasant,
NEGATIVES....The walls are so thin that i literally heard EVERYTHING the neighbours were saying, they had a film on until 01am, i tolerated it for so long as didn t want to upset anyone, but as i had to be at a work course at 6am, i felt i had to eventually start knocking on the wall, again i could hear everything that was said. So glad they were nt on a romantic weekend.....!

Room Tip: With no one next door!

We stayed here with our two small children in a family room.

The hotel itself is an ugly, modern buidling completely lacking in character. It is heavily, and blatantly geared towards golfers.

The room itself was enourmous, clean, perfectly comfortably, reasonably well equipped. Nothing special but certainly nothing whatsoever to complain about. We were provided with a cot for the baby which was more than satisfactory.

The receptionist was an absolute credit to the place, she couldn't have been more helpful, accommodating or friendly.

We ordered some room service consisting of sandwiches and a fish platter to share - it was all very nice and delivered by more friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast was fine with a good selection. Newspapers available. The restaurant/bar area felt a bit outdated - very 80s - but was clean and well kept.

The lesuire facilities were brilliant - an excellent, clean, pool of good size and depth, a lovely sauna and jacuzzi. I believe they offer spa treatments but I'm not certain on this point.

I remember the hotel not being the easiest to find and it really took some concentrating on some small, country roads. Other than this, I have no other cause for compaint with The WensumValley Hotel.

I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a good value place to stay in the area. It is not luxury accommodation but a very enjoyable stay in good, clean, well equipped and pleasant surroundings.

Friendly service. Clean rooms. No AC as usual for a Brit establishment. A bit of a let down for travellers from the US or Canada. Otherwise an excellent place to stay if you are visiting that part of the country. Excellent golf course and enjoy the unspoilt English countryside. The restaurant/bar staff are an asset to this facility - great service

In a highly competitive market this venue needs to do a better even though it was very good value for money. Just had 2 nights BB & evening meal with 3 rounds of golf as part of a group of 12 guys. On the positive side the staff were friendly, the food was good overall and they had decent facilities. On the less positive side the rooms we were small, old and tired although I noted signs suggesting they were doing some refurbishment in the hotel but do not know if this includes the rooms. The golf courses were in really poor condition with most fairways having more mud on them than grass. A little strange considering the volume of rain we have had recently. They also have two snooker tables and a pool table but they were unusable because they had no chalk or tips on the cues. The reason given for the lack of chalk by the staff was that it keeps going missing! None the less it rendered the existence of them worthless. Most of the guys believed the place lacked charactor and therefore atmosphere but I hope this review helps others.

My husband and our 2 girls stayed just one night on the way up to our annual holiday in North Norfolk.
The staff were incredibly welcoming and the whole atmosphere was so welcoming.
Our family room was huge and the beds were the most comfortable beds we have ever slept on. The whole hotel was lovely and clean and the food was absolutely delicious. We had the carvery which was really good and the puddings were just scrumptious.
We had some spa treatments whilst we were there which were great and we made full use of the pool which was fun and the girls especially liked the jacuzzi.
The views over the golf course were just stunning and the grounds are just so well cared for.
All in all a fantastic stay and I just wish we could have stayed longer.
Thank you to everyone at Wensum Valley Hotel for a great experience.
