We stayed in a standard cottage for 4 nights in April 2012. The cottages are to the North of the island, about a 30 minute walk from the harbour, so if you have heavy luggage I would recommend getting a pony and cart when you arrive. We paid IDR50, you could probably get it cheaper if you haggle. The friendly staff take you straight to your cottage and bring you a tasty iced coffee as a welcome drink. We thought our cottage was very sweet, it was clean; and though not air conditoned, it had a ceiling, and a standing fan. We particularly liked the porch area and the hammock was great. Sejuk cottages are set back from the beach down a short track, we found this an advantage. The location was quiet, apart from the roosters who are noisy, but we didnt find this a problem, and you could always wear earplugs! Generally, accommodation 'on the beach' is actually slightly set back from the beach with the coastal path in front of it. So, what you gain from being able to see the see, you lose by having a path right in front of you. We walked all the way round the island along the coastal path and had a look at a lot of the other accommodation and decided that we liked Sejuk Cottages best. It's a short walk from some really nice (and cheap) places to eat which have fantastic views out to sea and across to Lombok. The pool is great, there are only 4 loungers poolside, but we never had a problem getting one. The pool itself is a good size and has a small shallow area which is perfect for sitting and reading while cooling off. The breakfast is good, much better than some we had while on holiday, and a bonus for us was that you could have the lovely iced coffee at breakfast. We would definitely stay there again if we are lucky enough ever to return to Gili Air.
