“Great food in the village”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

We tried Warung Gili based on the good reviews on Tripadvisor on our last night at Gili Air, and were disappointed that we didn't check out Tripadvisor earlier, we would have eaten there every night! Really delicious Indonesian food, and very cheap.

“Best Indonesian food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

We visited Gili Air in early May and went to try Warung Gili because of the good reviews on Tripadvisor. Food was excellent, far the best we ever had anywhere in Indonesia. Owner lady is clearly putting all her heart and mind in preparing the food. It was absolutely delicious and on top of that also very affordable. It is really worth making the effort to walk the 5 minutes out from the beach to eat at Warung Gili. If you like you can also try the Warung opposite, their food is also very good and far better than in the beach restaurants, but not fully in class with Warung Gili.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013 via mobile

This small family run business slightly off the beaten track in Gili air must not be missed.located just beside scallywags mango retreat and therefore quite easy to find, this place serves up delicious local dishes at rock bottom prices.Alan, the owner, is a true gent and welcomes you as if you were part of the family...ask and he will also regale you with some tales.do not leave gili without going to this place!

“Worth the search to find. Ask at Scallywags Bar/Resto”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013 via mobile

This is not on the main street but their coconut fish dish is divine! Small, simple very clean and inexpensive. The owner and his wife were delightful .
The instructions to get there are not easy.
Turn right at the ferry terminal then when you get to Scallywags beach bar/restaurant ask how you get to Scallywags Mango Retreat because this retaurant is right beside it.
Good luck, it is worth the 10 min. walk.

“Delicious local food at great prices.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013 via mobile

I was tempted to try Warung Gili because of the reviews here and I wasn't disappointed. The first day I went on my own and had a delicious Ikan Kelak Santan - spicy coconut fish (slightly reminiscent of Thai fish curry) NB I opted for the "not spicy" version and it was pleasantly potent. The next day I dragged along my son who has sampled chicken satay throughout the island. His verdict was 'good' - great chicken but satay 'too peanutty'. I suspect he was loath to give it top marks because of his reluctance to do something as uncool as eating with his mother! His friend reported that his dish was delicious. The main dishes were mostly 20,000 and the boys reported that the beers were cheaper than most other places too.

There are no signs to Warung Gili but it is only about 5 minutes walk from the port. This is the easiest way I found. Head right if you were coming off the boat to Sunrise Resort. Take the tiny little alleyway to the right of Sunrise and follow signs to Scallywags Mango Resort. Warung Gili is just before Mango Resort.
