I wish there was a rating in between the average and very good. Honestly, I had a great time here. Our group's DM Jackie was a whole lot of fun to dive with and we saw some great stuff over multiple diving days. I especially enjoyed our night dives here. All really wonderful. But If I had the choice I would have checked a "good" circle if there was one.
Some slight drawbacks were: sometimes the boats seemed a bit crowded and there was some grumbling from customers about having to carry their own tank off the boat. (I really didn't mind this that much, but from the reaction of some others, it was obvious they did.) There was not anyplace to keep a little personal bag, or something safe and dry on the boats. This was kind of important to us as we didn't stay at the resort, but a bit of a hike away and the long surface intervals between multiple dives required you bring some other stuff along. The equipment I used was fine, (with the exception of the one BCD I got where the inflator hose was zip tied to the vest and poked me in the neck) but other outfits I have dived with seemed to take a bit more care in the whole rinsing process. I also never saw extra equipment on these boats just in case it was needed. In fact, on one multiple dive day, where my equipment was left on the boat to be set up again, my mask disappeared, and it was a good thing I checked the set up before we left because they had to run to the shop to get one.
At the time we were there, the compressors weren't working and air tanks were being filled at another dive shop. I think this might have contributed a little bit to the feeling of dive preparations being a little rushed and confused, so maybe other times are better.
All in all, I still loved my experience here. It is just that there are a lot of dive shops on Gili Air now so you have choices.
