“Of peace and tranquility”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2013

Quiet time: I really enjoyed my stay in this beautiful place - from the eclectic decoration of each of the four villas (which I daresay makes it the most special resort in the entire Gili Air) internally and externally to the beachfront location where we managed to take a morning walk into the sea everyday due to the super low tide (spotted a starfish too!). This place is perfect if you are looking for a quiet time.

Open-air concept: In the day, the open-air shower area in the villa seems like such a beautiful concept. However, during the rainy season, we were left hoping we had a closed-door shower/bathroom instead as there were flying insects/mosquitoes everywhere due to the light source. This didn't happen only in this villa because when we shifted to another resort on mainland Lombok, it had the same open-air concept and we encountered the same issue. There really wasn't anything Richard could do about this, but thankfully we brought mosquito coils to burn while taking a shower.

Not quite near the main street: Although it took us about 15 minutes to walk to the main street with other restaurants/resorts and it turned dark each time we returned from our dinner at around 7pm or later because the path back to the villas was not fully lit, I did enjoy the night stroll back, in full view of the night sky (when it wasn't cloudy).

How to get there: We booked a private transportation from Lombok Airport to a private harbour straight to Gili Air, in fact, they sent us right to the doorstep of Villa Casa Mio. But if you are alighting from the harbour, take a left turn (when you are back-facing the sea) and simply walk down the pathway towards Villa Casa Mio. You can ask along the way to be sure, since everyone knows just about everything in this small island of Gili Air.

Last piece of advice: travel with an open heart; be appreciative of the beauty around you. If you are simply looking to stay in your comfort zone, I suggest booking a much bigger resort where there will be more staff catering to your whims and fancies.

Room Tip: Initially I booked the The Ocean of Love room, but Richard was kind enough to switch it to The Tropi...

Stayed 3 nights 8-11 th December

This resort is located on the left side of the harbour pier,a 5-7 min walk.Or take the horse an cart for $50.00 rp....

The resort has 4 cabin style huts,we had the ocean breeze one right out far back ....
This was simple ,with nice bed,TV,large fridge, wardrobe, good air-con an outdoor shower....
We trouble with opening an closing our front door, every time ,it became frustrating an ending up snapping the key....didn't like the fact we had to put our used toilet paper in a bin provided, not flush down the toilet ...must be blocking all the pipes.i didn't like the bathroom at all......

We had too ask for fresh shower towels on our third day there,no fresh pool towels were given either.

Breakfast was a choice of 4 item, waffles, cooked American breakfast, juice, coffee.Good serving..
Dinner food was nice an large serving was great.Loved those springs rolls.....there is heaps more restaurant down near the harbour pier to dine at ...We dined at the sunrise hotel an the beach club resort on the beach ....

Wifi worked fairly well on most days, but weak in room...

We the loved the quietness of the resort, shallow water too low to swim in,but go to scallywag restaurant, the water there is divine for a deep water swim...crystal clear water an so refreshing..

There are 4 cabana huts to laze around in with a book or sleep....Richard played lovely soft classic music during the day....
Ata the waiter was very attentive to our request ,well done Ata....

There a nice freshwater pool to freshen up yourself in with deck hairs.

At first my impression of this resort was ,oh No not sure about this place, maybe if we had chosen the other huts,I may have felt better about this place...l did like the quietness which was a big bonus ..
I don't think I would stay here again,as there are better villa out there to stay....

Ciao ELISA Australia

Room Tip: These huts are not on the beach, but across the pathway... The dining area an cabanas are on the beac...

We spent 2 nights at Casa Mio Villas (Ocean Of Love)

Pro:
- Nice sunset.
- Secluded place in Gili Air
- Bikes rental

Cons:
- The villas are NOT on the beach. I thought they were, as other customers reported on Tripadvisor.
- Awful decoration of the rooms.
- The food is not good at all.
- Lots of things are broken (toilet flush, door lock)
- They stop the A/C during the day (it happened every day), so you got a hot room when you come back to the villa !
- Small bed.
- It was sometimes hard to be understood by the staff (in english).

The place is not so bad, but the price is not related to the quality of what you get.
I don't recommend this place.

F.

We loved this place. It's undoubtedly kitsch and quirky but it is also in a beautiful location and has lovely rooms - we particularly liked the outdoor shower in our ensuite!

We did have a few issues with power cuts but the owners were very helpful so it didn't spoil anything.

Great cocktails too, and a perfect place to watch the sunset on this little piece of paradise!

You DO need to recalibrate your expectations a bit when you stay on one of the Gili islands, but Villa Casa Mio manages to appear rustic while also pulling off very cool. This is helped by Tanya, the Manager, who is cheerful, helpful and professional. From breakfast on one of the beachside cabanas to the horse ride back to the jetty, they add a touch of Ibiza/Greek Islands to this beautiful part of Indonesia

If you are immobile however then there ARE spots closer to what passes as a 'centre' of Gili Air, so bear that in mind. It's a 10 minute walk along a mostly hard-packed sandy lane - easy if mobile, difficult if not. Not a gripe: just an observation

We stayed for 3 days at casa mio and it was really good. The hotel is very cute with lots and lots of nice touches and excellent decor. Our room was the sea breeze cottage which was at the bottom of the hotel and felt like the ugly child and I wish we had stayed in one of the larger cottages (there are only 4 in total) but they were fully booked.

The service in the hotel was extremely attentive and the manager was very helpful and nice, always making sure we wee enjoying our stay. The pool is a bit small but its fresh water, which is a rarety in the island, but it was very good to relax after a hot day. The restaurant area is beautiful with lots of lfunky and relaxing seats and the whole place is a bliss.

The location was not great, if you want to stay near the action in the island i would suggest the other side close to chillout bar - where the beach is also better as the beach in front of the hotel not great as its in front of a bay enclosed by a reef so its very very shallow and lots of corals. Getting around in horse carts is also not very cheap - min 50000 RP which is a lot for a 5 min horse cart ride.

overall the staff were very attentive and they even gave us a good bye cocktail on our last day. The food at dinner wasnt the best I've had and a bit pricey so we ate in other places most of the time, the breakfast in the other hand was really good and plentiful - they have a waffle machine and they were awesome.

Great place for a relaxing holiday!

Room Tip: try and stay in the bigger cottages as the ocean breeze is a bit small and a bit of a let down compa...
