“Not the best and more expensive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2012

Grumpy owner? Not any more... They are more ZEN... So after one night I told them that I was going to stay only one more night... Reason?

THEY have decided that loud music attract customer to the restaurant!!! I use ear plug at 10:00PM to sleep!!!!

I had a superior room with air con. Too small the air con, I took a cold shower to be able to sleep... Hot water was not working... Breakfast : normal.. But dinner was great but to expensive... Same that in europe! The bill is less but what is in your plate also... Except the pizza that have really good reviews and the fresh pasta, you're better at places like chill out restaurant with fresh fish for the same price!

I found a place with light ... And way cheaper... 250000 with air con and biba was 350000roupies

And yes the room is dark, so dark!!! Nothing like the pictures!!!

Sorry can't recommend, keep searching!

My husband and I have eaten here several times and every time the food has been wonderful. The pizzas are excellent, and all the food has a decent portion size and quality fresh ingredients.
If you want western food this is the best place to eat on the island.

Room Tip: The staff here are nice but they don't like to stay too late. If you want to eat here arrive bef...

Myself and my husband stayed at biba for 3 nights whilst on our honeymoon in August. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there - the rooms were comfortable and clean and nicely decorated and had a veranda with lovely views of the ocean. The breakfast, although not the best I have had in Indonesia, was nice. The food in the restaurant was amazing - we rarely eat twice at the same restaurant when on holiday as we like to try as many different things as possible - but we did eat here twice to have more of the best pasta we have ever eaten.
I feel that the owners are being unfairly called grumpy - so they are not the most outgoing of people, but they are very hospitable. The staff working for them are equally friendly.
We stopped in a range of hotels during our time in Bali and Lombok - including less expensive and very high end. This was by far the best value for money and definately somewhere I would return to on a return visit to Bali.

We stayed for 3 nights before moving on to Oceans 5 for 3 weeks. Biba's rooms are fine, the restaurant food is lovely, great pizzas !!!!! its in a central location, nice views .The draw back is the very stressed owners !!!! who never appear relaxed, not really what you want on your holiday.
Hey look around where you live !!!
They employ gorgeous friendly locals who really make this place .The owners really need to take a look at how the staff are with their customers and learn from it.
Gili island is a beautiful relaxing place....

Room Tip: the two rooms near the road are nice for the view, they have comfy verandahs

Great location, excellent food but more expensive than most. Rooms large but rather dark. Clean and tidy. Excellent staff and very friendly but the owners could definitely take a leaf out of their staffs books. Owners always seemed stressed out and should realise they cannot afford to appear that way if they are in the hospitality industry. Given the price of rooms I would find it difficult to reccomend.

Excellent hospitality with welcoming hosts that don't encroach. Attentive staff, good value for money with a very clean and colourful room. Food is of an exceptional standard, the wood-fired pizzas and homemade tagliatelle pasta not to be missed! Excellent location on the beach front, quiet and peaceful yet only short walk from the main amenities. Next time I return to Gili Air I'll be sure to stay in the Biba Beach Villiage again.

A group of seven expat teachers spent spring break at The Biba Beach Resort and dived with Manta Dive Resort on Gili Air. We had tried to book at Manta since we were diving with them, but in the end, we were quite happy to have stayed at The Biba Beach Resort. Our rooms were air conditioned (although sometimes the power would go off, especially if the air and lights were on together; but this didn't happen often). ! The only thing that would have made it better was fresh water, but there is only one property on Gili Air that has that---Bulan Madu Villas and Spa, and that is quite a bit more expensive. We found the Biba to be quite reasonable for the amenities---great grounds and nice places to relax and lounge. We took our meals at the tables overlooking the sea.
We ate all our breakfasts at Biba (included); don't be in a rush, and you'll really enjoy the experience much more. We had most of our lunches there after our morning dive, partly because of the convenience, but mostly because it was so good. Omigod, the pasta and gnocchi were to die for! Freshly made every morning! If you are a garlic lover, I recommend the tagliatelli with aoili et oilio con peperoncino---it had a bit of a kick, but not too much. I had it at least three different times; try it with the clams. It's not on the menu but Claudio will explain to the wait staff if you want to order off the menu. The gnocchi came with a choice of sauces as well. The only thing we didn't try was the lasagne. i'm sure it must be good, if it's like the rest of the menu.
Claudio and Sabrina were very warm and welcoming hosts. Their faces beamed when we expressed our delight with their food. And the PIZZA. ..you can't go wrong there, either.
The crust is so light and the different toppings, delicious! One night, we only had the pizza and shared all the different kinds. Add a salad or two to share, and it's heavenly.
I got back from Gili Air yesterday, and my mouth still waters when i think of the great food and the relaxing time I had at The Biba. We were happy that Gili Air is not the hustle and bustle of Gili Twarangan with its night life and bars. If you're younger and want that scene, don't stay on Gili Air.

Room Tip: Villa #1 and #2 are adjoining. Good for families.
