“Really nice family hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2013

Gili T is a fun island. Blessedly free of cars, scooters, and dogs. Travel is by walking, bike, or horse-drawn carriage. It's a mix of backpackers in the many guest houses, and couples and families in the upper-end hotels like Trawangan Resort. Lots of restaurants, a bunch of dive shops that go to sites 5-15 minutes away, and a zillion beach bars. It is not remote. The back side of the island is mostly empty, but solitude is not Gili T's strong point. Diving is mixed. Lots of turtles, but much of the reef is bombed out from past dynamite fishing. Certifying new divers is a big deal here.

Trawangan Resort is ten minutes walk down the sidewalk/path/road to the main dock, night market, and town center. Clean, spacious room. We really liked the hot water and air conditioning, which drowned out even the call to prayer in the morning. Nice pool. Good bar. Beach is pretty, but fairly narrow, with lots of crushed or broken coral bits. It's quiet, which worked for us but might not for a person wanting to be steps from the bars or busy part of town. Breakfast is great. Staff is first rate, really sweet people. We chatted with the owner a couple times each day. Everyone seemed to know our names by the end of our first day, and freely greeted us. Very welcoming place.

The stay at this resort was relaxing, and very rewarding.
The Staff are friendly and could not do enough to help, the room we stayed in was upstairs with a view to die for.
The surrounding area, pool, restaurant and beach are maintained, clean and beautiful.
If anyone wants a rewarding relax I would highly recommend this resort.

My partner and I stayed here for 4 nights.
Right from the moment of booking online the resort was friendly and professional to deal with. I had no worries about my booking 'disappearing' as sometimes can happen when booking online.
We arrived early and our room wasn't ready but it was no problem as we wandered over the road to relax for a while.
We had what I guess you would call a standard room, it was nice and airy with an outdoor bathroom. The tv was decent, the bed comfortable, although as mentioned by previous reviewers a blanket would have been great.
Breakfast was good. I had lunch in the restaurant and it was okay, but there are better options.
About 5 minutes walk to the main part of the island.
Staff were helpful and friendly and the pools relaxing.
While I don't think I'd go back to the island as it was a little too busy for me, I did love my time at this resort.

The Trawangan Resort is nicely located at a few minutes walk distance from main commercial area of Gili T.
During my stay I spent two nights in a two-bedroom Villa and one in a Deluxe room.

Two-bedroom villas are a great option for a family or two couples travelling together. The rooms are stylish and well furnished, with comfortable beds and well decorated semi-open air bathrooms. There’s a large living room with TV and dining area (although no cooking facilities are provided), and a private pool with a nice gazebo. The overall ambience is cosy and comfortable.

The Deluxe room instead was a bit impersonal. We were given a loft-style room downstairs: even if spacious and well equipped, it was empty and un-cosy. There were no bedside table abat-jours and the main light was very white and bright. On the contrary, a couple of friends stayed in an equivalent room upstairs and they found it very nice and cosy (the ceilings are wooden and they are better furnished). Make sure to ask for a room upstairs (and ask twice, since the staff is not very receptive and their English is very basic).

The restaurant is nice, right on the beach as most places in Gili T. There are a couple of stilt-areas where you can relax and enjoy a drink in a tranquil and private place.
A la carte breakfast is good and abundant, but make sure to have a good amount of time – the service is really slow and you will have to wait to get your orders. We didn’t try lunch or dinner at the hotel since the place is rather empty at day and evenings, moreover many dining options are available nearby.

The beach in front of the restaurant is a nice area to relax and sunbathe, not ideal for swimming though as there are many coral remains that make it uncomfortable.

Room Tip: If booking a Deluxe room, ask for one upstairs. Two-bedroom villas are great.

Gili Trawangan was our second stop after the calm and serene Tulamben in Bali. I must say we were a bit shocked by the number of European tourists in Gili, we thought Gili was secluded and quiet, not a mini-Patong! But the resort made up for everything with the great location that was nicely off from the crowded party area, yet close enough to civilization. We stayed in the villa that was perfect for a group of 6 friends, we had so much fun swimming, cycling and snorkeling in the perfectly clear blue waters close by. Breakfast was amazing and such a highlight of the trip, I was looking forward to them everyday! The facilities and accommodation were great, but the resort needs to keep proper maintenance, ants and mozzies seem to be problems. Sanitation and drainage will be future problems too if not maintained. Also, I didn't understand why there were no blankets provided but a thin bed sheet doubled as a blanket. The bathroom towels also need to be of better quality and stains adequately removed. But other than these minor grouses, the resort was a great stay.

rented a 2 bedroom villa for a night. a very nice place for hanging out with friends

there's a 'gazebo' beside the pool, a nice place to have a chit-chat in the middle of the night. you can sleep there if you like. beware of mosquitos

it is a wise decision to rent a bike with lamps. the road is so dark at night

+
the rooms are amazing. no flaws
so quiet, total privacy
comfy, lot of wind breezes
fresh water shower, an expensive commodities there
well-priced. very clean

-
pool water smells bad
the food, eww
for those who dislikes darkness, this place is not for you

spoiler: dont bother searching for the lamp-switch. the outdoor lamps are automatic and the gazebo downlight switch is in one of the pillar
i spent 1 hrs searching for the switch

It just does not get any better than this.We had a huge room that was so relaxing all with a beautiful pool outside. If this was not enough the beach was only about 50 meters away from our door. The food was perfection and the service as better than just about anywhere.By day 2 the staf knew our daughters name and looked after her like a princess.Very relaxing laying on the beach having beers and lunch or anything served.
The owner took time out to introduce herself and make sure we were happy with everything.
Only a short walk to the main town area, perfect location to be quiet but so close if you wanted to go out for dinner.
Do yourself a favour and just stay here.

Room Tip: we had room 102,ground floor with the pool out the front. huge bathroom and bedroom.
