“Lovely relaxation spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2011

This is a nice place, good pool, really generously sized villas, fabulous staff and a private section of beach in a great, quiet snorkelling spot. This place doesn't feel indonesian in character, perhaps more australian with the bungalows, but it is well serviced and everything about it is geared towards giving you a great holiday. We were glad to be away from the other end of the island as this quieter zone still has lots of great bars and restaurants and it felt a bit full and too busy at the other end at times. Either way, it's only a 15min walk from end to end or 5 mins in a horse taxi! So you're never far from the buzz if you want it. We checked out loads of hotels on Gili while we were there as they all have nice pools and bars but we concluded that Villa Grasia was the best of all of them. Great food and really peaceful. Our only gripe was that the HBO movie channel on the TV seemed to broadcast with dubbing in 3 languages at once so was pretty impossible to have a night in with a movie. However, the manager was looking into that and seemed really proactive, just like all his staff. Overall this was a really lovely spot on a fab island. Cleanliness wasn't an issue for us, our villa was pretty spotless.

First of all Gilli is not Cheap. We traveled in peak season and it was hard to find accommodation, Im sure if you shop around you will find places that are more value.

if you want to be away from the crowds and have more privacy this is a great place to be.

From the options we found, this was the best and we don't regret to stay there considering our situation. we were considering villa ombak and the trawangan. i have to say im happy we didnt stay at villa ombak as it looks like a big resort.

this hotel is located in the north part. you will need to get one of the local transportation to get there, price is 50,000 rupiahs day or night. i wouldn't recommend you to walk from the jetty. to go back to the main area restaurant will take about 30 minutes. if you want to party and go out every night this is not a good place.

location is just beautiful, clean beach, with little people, turquoise water, just paradise. we loved this part of the island much better than the one with all cafes and restaurants.

rooms are just great. big beds, very comfortable, not too soft, not too hard, very large. a lot of space, very clean. large bathroom. simple decoration, it would have been nice if its a bit more Indonesian style.

only downside. the room has a very small garden and there's a door to access the garden. this door has a big glass that allows light to go inside the room. we didnt think this would be a problem but in the early morning there's a lot of light going inside the room (sunrise is around 6 am) so if you want to sleep and have problems caused by daylight you might find it a bit annoying. If the hotel could add a shade the problem would be easily solved. not a big issue that a couple of sarongs couldn't solve.

service is not awesome, we had to wait for about an hour or more to get our room, check is quite slow, and they don't seem to find reservations very quickly.

Nevertheless, Andy at the restaurant that is very helpful and always smiling, making you feel welcome. Food service is quite slow and the menu isn't very big, but is not a problem as you can go to the resorts around and eat next door. Prices for food are not cheap as other parts of Indonesia, but in general everything is expensive in Gili. average you will be spending 120,000 rupiahs for each meal.

i found the prices of the spa services very expensive, but didn't worry too much to shop around for this. we also asked the hotel to help us booking a boat to go to lombok and then a taxi to go to the airport, the price they gave us was quite expensive 750,000 rupiahs for 2 persons (about 150 euros). instead we decided to go to the jetty area and shop around, we ended up paying something like 300,000 (around 60 euros) for the 2 of us.

the beach is coral, so you should consider to bring shoes that allow you to walk comfortably inside the water, this way you will reach the snorkeling spots easily. from what my boyfriend said the snorkeling was very good, as the Shark Point is just infront of the resort, you will see a couple of boats going there for diving everyday.

we found the swimming pool with too many chemicals, you might think you wont need a swimming pool if you have the ocean, but actually the water goes down by 3-4 pm, so you might feel like using it. again not a very big problem

breakfast doesn't have too many healthy options, i think this could improve due the price.

it is true you can hear the noise of the electric generator, but is not very loud. at least not as bad as it will be for other hotels that are just next to it. i think villa grasia is already far enough to keep you away from the noise. also keep in mind there's a musk in a different part of the island, and that for sure would be much more annoying than the slight noise made by the generator.

overall it is a good place, but if you can search your hotel with a lot of time in advance in order to get the best value in the island.

We had a wonderful stay at Villa Grasia. First of all: Thank you to the Hotel Staff, especially Danny, who were always smiling and being helpful! The villas are great sized, and the comfort is good enough - but it is not luxury standard. Two things that would make Villa Grasia even better st: 1) Keep the Hotel beach clean. There were some garbage, cigarettes etc in the sand. Kind of spoils the idyllic experience a bit. 2) The breakfast - would be great with some more choices of healthy food, such as dark bread, fruit, ham, cheese etc. Also - the juices tasted like they had been watered out. But - totally our experience was great. The hotel is peacefully located at the islands northern end, a perfect location for those seeking good snorkling, nice views and relaxation. We will most likely be back:)

Villa Grasia was part 3 of our honeymoon after Seminyak and Ubud.
The bungalows are wonderfull, and the staff extremely friendly and sympathic, as anyone on Gili.
This place fitted our needs very well, sun bathing and snorkling every day in a quiet and romantic place.
Make sure you arrange pick-up by horse carriage with them, it's not always included.
Only minus was the evening dining, you have better options around the island, in the central part or at nearby other places (we can recommend Julius).
Breakfast was however delicious, with many options at the buffet, they even had homemade croissants (something close to my French heart)!

We stayed at Villa Grasia for three nights in April. It was low-season (but fantastic weather) and the resort was very quiet. I think there were only 2 or 3 other villas being occupied!
The resort is located about a 20-minute walk from the main centre of Gili Trawangan. We quite enjoyed that, as we weren't there to party all night - we were diving each day so wanted restful sleeps (huge and comfy beds!). The walk was actually quite pleasant and there are a number of spots to stop off for a beer or food along the way.
The rooms were very clean and the air conditioning was quiet and we used it quite a bit. The resort has a pool, though we didn't use it as the beach is just in front of you!
We did not eat at the resort, but did enjoy a few 2-for-1 cocktails! We saw another couple have a dinner set up on the beach, which looked lovely.
The only real disappointment was that the resort charges you to use their snorkelling equipment (all we borrowed were fins as we had our own snorkels). I would have thought that would be a free service. The snorkelling just infront of the resort is beautiful - plenty of fish. The beach however is full of coral, as La Nina water temperatures was been too hot and much of the coral has died. Wear thongs/fins on the beach.
You MUST eat at Made's Wahroong on the property just south of the resort. Hari and Wayan will take good care of you and if you love spicy food - the Taliwang chicken is to die for!
We would stay again, and the staff were helpful and friendly. We felt very safe at the resort.

We stayed here for 3 nights. The staff were fantastic, the rooms very comfortable and had everything you could possibly need. The hotel is a good walk from were the bars are if you like a drink!!! It is very dark coming home in the early hours after blowing £100 in the Irish bar where the DJ kept us dancing all night so we would have preferared to be a little nearer the action so to speak but in that hotel, we request it is moved next to the Irish Bar!!!! seriously we did not want to leave Gilli T and will be back next year for much longer than the 3 nights!!!!

Located at the northern tip of the island, the hotel is away from all the crowds and noise - definitely a plus for us but if you're looking for a more 'lively' way to spend your break then this could be a drawback, as getting 'downtown' by foot takes about 20 mins.

The beach chairs were in a very sorry state, but the beach was clean and the nearby reef quite spectacular - generally a great place for snorkelling.

Although the rooms are large with a comfy bed, aircon and TV, the cleanliness was somewhat suspect - nothing in particular at first glance but definitely lacking that 'fresh and clean' feel in certain areas (e.g stained facial towels). This hotel is quite new but generally lacking in regular upkeep.

Though perhaps sounding subjective, the rooms definitely lacked any Indonesian authenticity - we could have been in a 3* hotelroom in every other part of the world. The same with breakfasts - a very average buffet - again nothing particularly bad, but the same offered at every 2*-3* hotel/motel/inn in the world

As with every type of review, everything is quite relative and subjective, but quite frankly if not for the beach, reef and amazing sunsets our stay would have been quite disappointing.
