I stayed at Karma Kayak July 2012 for about 4 days and I could not have hoped for a better experience. When I first arrived on Gili Trawangan K.K. was booked so I stayed just down the road for a couple of days until they had availability. Even while I was a guest at another property, I ate all of my meals there and enjoyed sundowners on their beach every evening (along with dozens of other travelers). The resort is small with only a handful of bungalows which lends to its charm and boutique-like feel. The grounds are impeccably maintained, very lush which helps give you privacy while hanging out on your front porch. Each bungalow has its own unique, tasteful decor and are cleaned daily. The property also participates in green operational practices and is involved in conservation efforts around the island. The resident owners are 2 lovely Dutch women who work tirelessly to ensure each guest is happily being taken care of and who make you feel welcome, and yes, special to be staying with them on their amazing beachfront property. the food is tapas style, all freshly prepared with western tastes in mind. The staff are likewise very polite, helpful and friendly; they speak English well enough and have been trained by the owners in western0style customer service. I cannot say enough positive things about Karma Kayak-- from top to bottom it's a lil slice of paradise perfected. If you find yourself in Gili Trawangan, do yourself a favor and try to stay at Karma Kayak (book in advance if possible). If they do not have availability, enjoy their tapas menu while sipping on delicious homemade sangria and enjoy the groomed beach while lounging on mats and pillows.
