Ok, I was in Bali and wanted to escape the tourism in KUTA for a few days so I decided to go to Gili T. Went online and found Pondok Santi. I was staying in cheaper places throughout my travels and wanted to splurge so I did. I think I found heaven.
As soon as I arrived i was greeted by a young balinese woman with a wet towel and said, "Michael, we are pleased to have you". She walked me to the check in bungalow where Georgie (manager with her husband Baz) was seated and greeted me with a huge smile and big HELLO! Georgie got me a fresh juice while i gazed around the property which I believe is what the book of Genesis in the Bible called "the garden of eden". This place is unreal. I mean it. In all my travels all over the world this might be the most beautiful of them all.
My private bungalow was equipped with A/C an outdoor private rain shower, tv with DVD player on that one night when it poured rain. There are swings from the coconut trees (where if you want a coconut a gentleman CLIMBS up and gets you one, cuts it open puts a straw in it and bam...a drink from nature). volleyball nets. But the best is the private beach not 100 steps from your bungalow (go ahead and count). right to the perfect color water.
I could not have been more pleased by my stay here. THIS is what Bali used to be like I am sure. it is a 8 min walk to the center of town for great restaurants (i ate at the market both nights, red snapper, perfect) bars, and clubs. There are so many other places to stay in Gili T but when you leave Pondok and see tourist after tourist stop to take pics of the place that YOU are staying at you realize over and over ï made the perfect choice".
Again, i hate writing this because the last time I wrote about my fav place in the world (which is now surpassed by Pndok) was a cabana in TULUM, Mexico and not a year later its on the cover of National Geographic. So hopefully this place will stay a secret for a little while longer.
Go now. NOW! Thank you Georgie and Baz for th perfect end to my vacation. Much Love.
