“5 star service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

The hotel is absolutely amazing. It is situated slightly inland, about five minute walk to the private hotel beach, or 2 minute cycle, which was quite nice not to be on the busy main strip. The staff are very friendly and keen to help out whenever they can. The rooms are spacious, well equipped and very clean. The pool is a stunning 60m salt water pool that every room opens on to. Food is good and room service available at no extra cost.
Looking at the other reviews I see people have mentioned getting the slow boat to the island. This can take most of the day, and for a little bit extra well worth getting the fast boat, many companies now operate, and it takes between 2 and 3.5 hours depending upon conditions and number of stops on route. We also extended our stay when we were there and it was $25 (US) cheaper a night to book direct with them, so perhaps try going through the hotel direct as opposed to a third party.
In summary I have stayed at several hotels on the island and this is by far the best and certainly very good value for money, being considerably cheaper than some of the other top end resorts.

Good bits: the rooms, pool and facilities are beautiful, spectacular and amazing! I found the staff to be friendly too. Paid less when I extended my stay on the day, booking through AsiaRooms does cost you.

Things to consider:
It's rainy season - it took me 12 hours to get there on a slow boat from Bali - this happens once or twice a year for a week. While I stayed there, riding a bike was the the main form of transport. I was riding through ankle deep puddles of water in very dimly let conditions - I quite liked this adventure, but not for everyone. It's either bike or horse cart on Gili T.

Food there isn't the greatest. You really have to get on a bike and leave the place to have a proper meal.

Don't really help with travel arrangements, their options are few and expensive.

The location is in a quiet part of the island. The rooms are spacious, cosy, clean and comfortable. Slept very well. The salt-water pool was enormous & clean. The service incredibly warm and friendly. Just excellent - cannot fault it one bit- will stay again next year. No wonder it was awarded TripAdvisor's 2012 Award for best hotel on Gili T.

Small and lovely hotel with only16 rooms. On each side of the amazing pool you have 8 rooms
with a private terrace and step in. The only problem is the distance to the beach, but bikes are available. No cars,no motorbikes, only by foot, bike or horse.

Room Tip: All the rooms are stunning.

OK, so the hotel itself is nice and the double rooms are spacious and flow out to a large pool which is fabulous, but the big problem is that it's so far from the beach... and why else do you go to Gilli? By foot it's a long, long walk and a bike ride at night back can literally be treacherous as there is little or no light back to the hotel along pot holed tracks. It's just in a lousy position when 90% of the rest of the accommodation available on the island is right smack on the beach. It's a no brainer really.

The hotel is stunning- the rooms are lovely and spacious, fitted with seperate bedroom, bathroom and living room. I loved that you could go from the bedroom to the patio to the pool, then rinse and repeat.
Having said all of this, however, I don't think the "resort" is worth the $130 (or however much we paid).
We planned to stay for 10 nights, but cut it short by 5 days because the hotel was just not what we were expecting.
The service is terrible. The hotel owner, and his brother, were lovely and made you feel welcome and at home, however the service from the rest of their staff were not very good. I don't know if it's due to island time, seeing as it IS Gili T, but I think they could learn to be a bit more efficient with their time and a little more proactive.
The rooms do have a tv fitted with 'cable tv' and a dvd player. The cable tv only has around 4 or 5 international channels- most of which are Italian. Again, for the price, this just isn't good enough. Even 3 star hotels in Bali have more international channels.
The food is terrible. Again, for the price of the resort you'd expect the food to be tasty. I would highly recommend going into town for your meals!! This brings me to my other point- location.
The resort is away from the main part of town, which can be nice, however the commute by bike at night time proves to be a bit difficult at times. It's a lot of fun cycling into town, and makes for a lot of laughs, but at night it can get a bit scary. The dirt roads are filled with pot holes, and it can be pretty deserted at night. I would recommend cycling with another person just in case something happens.
Though it seems there were a lot of negative points, there were also a lot of positives. It is a gorgeous-looking resort, and would be great for a couple of days, maybe four days maximum.
I guess I was most upset because of the value. It would be a great place if it was cheaper, because I honestly don't think it is worth the price they ask for.

Luce D Alma is a very charming resort. The room and the pool - its highlight - are quite attractive. I particularly liked the ceiling & lighting. The loungers on the patio, by the poolside are also very comfortable.
The reception has a good collection of DVDs, which we browsed through, but didn't use. We chose to spend time on the loungers under the clear night sky than to watch a movie indoors.
We saw a variety of fish and crabs, snorkeling just a few meters off the shore, from the resorts private beach.
The resort provides free bicycles for use, which we used to go around the entire island. everyone must visit the quieter side of the island. beautiful is an understatement!
Mr Antonio and the staff are very friendly and courteous. The receptionist is very efficient and fluent in English. They help with travel reservations and special meal requests (i am a vegetarian), with ease. the cake of the day was delicious on both days.

A few recommendations, though : food menu could be better, taste wise the food was fine. I understand that the owners are Italian, thus most of the dishes on the menu belong to their home cuisine, with few Indonesian entries. Its OK for a stand alone restaurant, but for a resort, in a place like Gili T, we would prefer to spend all our time within the resort & beach than to venture out in search of other restaurants. A few more options on the menu will be appreciated.
Though the bicycles are in good condition, the headlight depends on the speed of the cycle. On a road full of pot holes and wet sand patches, the cycle just doesn't catch up enough speed for sufficient brightness. This is a serious concern, as it was pitch dark after sunset. For a 4 star resort, they must take initiative to fix their approach road, and put up some street lights to make it a smooth ride.
Most of the books at the reception, available for guests to read, were in Italiano. A few more English titles would be great, on a rainy day.
