“Best place to stay on Gili T”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

Luce d'Alma is not on the beach, but it's a little oasis in the centre of the island. The resort itself has a wonderful ambience with the pool as the main feature, and quite impressive at 80m in length.
Our villa was very spacious with a high quality build, nice big bed and very clean. Antonio was a wonderful host, always asking if we needed more towels, more food, more anything. The staff were also very friendly, especially the lovely girl on reception from Lombok.
It is a little bike ride into town and the roads are fairly shoddy, but this is part of the fun and you're mixing it with local families in a very tranquil setting (the main drag can be a little overwhelming, especially at night). There's also a very nice Italian restaurant where the path hits the beach. The bikes are pretty rickity but with the sand and the roads on the island it's pointless to have new ones.
Breakfast was fab and very generous with a different freshly baked cake every day. Luce d'Alma also has a beach bar (only 5 minutes by bike) and near the nicest, most unspoiled part of the island (the northern tip). The guys there were also very helpful, valet parking our bicycles.
We'd definitely recommend the resort and hope to stay there again one day!

Perfect 6 day stay in July 2010. all rooms open out onto the pool which is amazing. most other hotels on the island are backpacker style but this is great. I would be the extra to stay here any day. breakfast good. free cycles to go round the island which we did every day. what a great place and great owner

Room Tip: choose room on left of pool from reception as this gets more sun on patio.

We stayed at this most beautiful hotel in gili island for 6days. It was truly the best part of our trip to this part of the world. Wonderful rooms, great swimming pool and attentive and friendly staff . Antonia the owner of the property was terrific. The price was right for this wonderful hotel.

Luce D'Alma is situated in the centre of Gili Trawangan some way away from the centre of the town. Travel to and from is therefore either by bicycles provided free of charge by the hotel or by horse and cart. Lack of lighting makes travel on foot or by bike at night somewhat hazardous whilst the cost of the cidomos is way over the top. A trip of less than 1km costs abbout Rp50,000.
The rooms are large and well appointed and lead out on to a deck leading to the swimming pool that separates rooms on either side. For the energetic a lap is about 60m .
Breakfasts are fairly simple and whilst meals are available at lunch and dinner, we spent most of our time on the beach or in town.
Antonio and Luce, the owners, are nearly always around and ever willing to help. Likewise, all the staff go out of their way to help and make your stay enjoyable.
Watch out for Ziggy and the magic mushroom!
There is a small rest area with bar on the main beach and this is a great place to relax after or during shopping.

Room Tip: All rooms are situated around the pool and there is no other view available

We stayed for 2 nights, it would have been longer if they had not been fully booked. A little bit away from the main drag, but the bikes supplied made every trip an adventure. Next time will definitely stay for longer. Lovely staff in lovely surroundings. The pool is awesome and the beach area very comfortable. The only thing that was average was the restaurant, the in house food that we had was ok but fairly ordinary, but spoilt for choice down by the beach.

From the airport pick up (at an additional cost but it is quite a trip) to the seamless rendezvous with a waiting speedboat and then to the awaiting pony and trap on Gili T it was such a great start to a great holiday.

The owner Lucio made a point of being hands on with all the guests and made us feel so welcome and this flows down to the great staff. This really makes a difference as a personal touch goes a long way for us.

Rooms are a fair size and could not see why you would need more space as you
get a lounge room as well as the bedroom.

You get free use of bikes but be warned the tracks are bumpy and the bikes unforgiving but the beer numbed the pain in our bums...

I don't think you would regret staying here.

Room Tip: All rooms are the same so no need to worry about this, although one side does get more sun.

This is a fantastic place!

The rooms are exquisite, generously sized and tastefully decorated. The AC works very well, despite the size of the rooms, and they upgraded the light fittings while we were there so the rooms are no longer as dim as others have reported in earlier reviews. All the rooms look out on to the beautiful salt-water pool - which limits your privacy a little, but the tinted, one-way windows make up for it a little (but they are not 100% opaque, so be careful).

The staff are very friendly. A little too eager during breakfast, when they seem to ask you if you want anything else every five minutes, but this is a small gripe...they are very accommodating and helpful.

The bikes make the journey down to the main beach pretty easy, although I was a little sore after three days of bumping around on those saddles. You will probably want a torch if cycling after dark, as the dynamo powered bike lights aren't great.

The only downside was the food. The food is really disappointing. The breakfasts are pretty bland, with bad orange cordial, awful fake vanilla cornflakes, poor quality bread and jam for the toast and a limited range of cooked options (omelette or pancake). The cake of the day is a nice touch, though! We had meals brought to our rooms a couple of times while we're were there, and again they were bad. The minestrone soup was not good, nor was the pizza baguette (again, due to bad bread - not actually a baguette at all), and the burger was mediocre. I would definitely recommend eating anywhere else rather than at the resort, because there are plenty of good places to eat on Gili T.
