“Jepun Restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2013

We didn't stay at Jepun Bungalows, but really enjoyed dinner at the restaurant for several times. Staff is very friendly and laid back and speaks English fluently. Food is very tasteful for a good value. A nice and relaxed atmosphere with some good music. That's why this was our favourite restaurant on Gili Meno!

We stayed in the family bungalow which was spacious with three beds, comfortable for traveling with two kids. The place had also Lumbung type houses but we did not see them, cannot comment on their quality. The garden was very green, full of plants, big difference compared to typical gardens on Gili islands. You could see the garden having Hindu influence, also not typical to the region. The food was prepared by the owner and the maid, very delicious and fairly priced (food). We ate also in some places next to the beach (Rust for example) which may have had better views but not even comparable food quality. The room could have been cleaner and the price was not the cheapest (~70usd in high season) but any drawbacks were compensated by the owner Alit's always smiling and relaxed attitude which made the whole stay very enjoyable. I can only wish him the best and recommend for others to stay in Jepun Bungalows.

Strolled past this guesthouse/restaurant while I was on my way to my resort and was drawn to the Balinese design and 60s music. Owner Alit handed me the menu, saying nothing, only a gentle smile. Let me back track a little why I find that pleasing. Many had recommended Rus Warung as top eat on the island and admittedly food was not too awful but the servers were borderline pesky and it gets pretty tired, responding to "where are you from?" "oh you are from x country, which part?"
In my search for decent eats and nice ambience, I found it in Jepun Bungalows. The steamed snapper was beautifully prepared, a simple marinade of chilli paste (non spicy) with some lime and salt and then steamed to perfection and served with the same homemade chilli paste and rice.
Also tried grilled calamari, grilled king prawns that were not overcooked so meat was tender and sweet. Highly recommended! Depending on what you order, the bill will come up to about IDR65,000-IDR85,000 including non-alcoholic drinks.

We booked 5 nights here and after the first night decided to stay 4 more! The bungalows are set in a beautiful garden which is lovingly maintained by the owner Alit and his staff. The highlights here for us are the people who run it who are so friendly and helpful, the restaurant which serves some of the best food on the island and the delightful gardens. It is only a 50 - 75m walk to the beach and the free wifi was a big hit too! Thank you Alit and all for giving us such a memorable and warm stay. Paul and Ari.

Gili Meno is quiet; even on New Year's Eve! Very friendly people; rooms are clean and adequate - good for the price especially as it includes a/c. Breakfast a little light with few options but again, ok for the price. Bungalows are fairly close together but this didn't cause any problems. Open air bathrooms and sweet water supplied; water bottle top-up provided. Wifi was extra. Only 100m from public ferry, restaurants and beach. Turtle sanctuary nearby was worth a visit.

Room Tip: The rooms with a/c were probably best accommodation, but the non-a/c bungalows were prettier (trad s...

Stayed here with two friends in November just after staying in Kontiki and it was 10 times better. The bathrooms are open air, so they don't get musty and gross. The service was good, if you want them to clean your room you just have to ask, but that seems to be pretty consistent with places on the island in this price range. Only issue we had was the water being turned off a few times during the day and a night - somewhat irritating as there was no warning of this. Breakfast was good, eggs or pancakes, and they offer water bottle refills for a lower price than the rust warung.

Room Tip: The two bed a/c room is nice, although no safe, so plan accordingly with your own lock equipment.

Do not hesitate , just go to Jepunbungalow. !

Room Tip: We had a Non AC room, very aery as the roofs is at least at 4 m high and covered with grass for inso...
