This is the first time we had ventured in to the 'all inclusive club' and i was a little unsure what it would hold. My daughter(15) and i went for some chill out time. We stayed Wednesday to Wednesday with First Choice. From a stress free travel point of view it couldnt have been easier with all travel and transfer arrangements being smooth and well planned with no hold-ups. The flight was great from our local airport.
The holiday rep Peter was excellent - he was available and informative without being invasive. The small amount of anti-social behaviour by those unable to cope with 'on tap' alcohol was nipped in the bud by Peter and the hotel manager. The front of house staff were great but the real stars were the waiting staff in the dining room - they were without exception friendly, professional and very efficient. The dining room was a spotless smooth running machine! The food was excellent every day with a huge amount of choice - i found the best to be the vegetarian options as this tended to be fresher, hotter and tastier than the rest....the arrange of salads never failed to please.
The rooms were cleaned daily and we really couldnt fault any part of the hotel all week. The air con is excellent and would be a god send in the height of summer. The water pressure was amazing and made for power showers and baths that ran in seconds - there was never a problem with getting hot water even at peak times.
What did change was the overall ambience when there was a large intake on the saturday (half term week). Up to then the holiday had felt really relaxed with an air of warm, quiet tranquility - there were no ques for anything and it was all really very lovely. We paid more for a pool view room and it was well worth it.
Once half term kicked in the hotel was noisier and there were constant ques at the bar and late night disturbances along the corridor, ....it felt very much the 'brits abroad all inclusive' holiday - sunbeds were bagged early (although there were always plenty to go round)...the dining room was very busy and overall the hotel felt busy, noisy and much less relaxing.
Es Canar itself is a small backwater of Ibiza and if you dont want the 'Pacha' feel then its the place to go. I was disappointed by the lack of individual local shops and overall they were bog standard 'british seaside goods' on sale - it would have been nicer to see local crafts etc. The hippy market is a must for this very thing but only runs once a week.
The excursions we booked on through the rep were excellent and a great way to see the real island - good value for money and really well organised - the tour guides were a mind of information and gave us many opportunities to take some real picture postcard photos.
The weather was fab all week - shorts and costumes - and only rained on the morning of departure. We met some lovely people during the course of the week.
Would i go again? - absolutely yes.... but outside of the school holidays (sorry kids!)
