“Excellent Holiday!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

Yes the accommodation is dated as the other reviews mention, but the rooms have everything you could want and most importantly are clean!!! I would much rather stay somewhere that is dated and clean than new and dirty! If you have stayed self catering in Greece before then it is pretty much standard, a studio bedroom with kitchen (kettle and cooker/microwave) and bathroom consisting of a loo, basin and shower tray. Cleaners came in everyday to make the beds, wipe the bathroom round and provide loo roll.

The owner Basil is such a lovely man and so interesting to talk to, he really does make the apartments what they are! The pool is his pride and joy and I have never seen a pool so clean, neat and tidy.

We met several people during our week long stay who have been coming to Agios Georgios and staying with Basil for years! You are literally two minutes from the beach but off the 'main drag' so it is super quiet. I would definitely recommend and would return!

Room Tip: Top Floor!

Often when you go to Greece you expect basic amenities in the room. However the Kamelia takes basic to new heights. Imagine living in a 1950's tenament and you will get an idea. The "balcony" consists of a corridor leading to the rooms so, if, like us, you were at the end everybody would pass by as you enjoyed your gin and tonic, and you had to be outside as there was no air conditioning and the room wasn't exactly conducive for lounging around. We couldnt decide whether we were pleased to be down the end (room14) as it meant we didnt have bins and other peoples washing in front of us or, upset as Roland the resident tree rat inhabited the tree opposite where we sat, it was a toss up! Do invest 10euros in a fan, it was invaluable. We asked about safety deposit boxes but were told they weren't necessary and, to be honest, no self respecting burglar would dream of breaking in here. Washing your hair was a 2man job and, even then, was not easy as there was no attachment for the shower and it had to be hand held at all times. Having said that, the pool was beautiful, and the location of the rooms excellent for the delights of St George South.
Our favourite restaurants were The Seagull, Oceano, and Rouvelas.
Basically if you come here expecting an extremely basic room and pay very little for it you will be OK but please don't come expecting to be able to self cater or anticipating tranquil glasses of wine on a balcony with spectacular views, and please don't pay much or you will be disappointed.

We stayed here in September 2012 with our baby. It was exactly as it said when we booked basic but clean and 2/3 minutes walk to the beech. Basil was great with our son always took time everyday to come over and say hi and was constantly giving him biscuits and fruit.
The peole we met in the apartments were very friendly.

The pool is excellent - very clean

The food in agios georgios was excellent not a bad meal and the local people are fantastic

We didn't feel the resort was ideal for children of our boys age however it is a place we would revisit when he is older.

We found kazzoos bar was excellent and really made us feel welcome, Tim the owner was great company and again made our little boy really welcome

Room Tip: Request a ground floor apartment alot cooler

Our stay in Corfu in the summer of 2011 was a total fluke as we picked up a mega bargain on line, after spending a fortune on a cruise. This was a last minute bargain at £200 pp for 14 days at the Kamelia in Agios Georgios South.
We braced oursleves for all sort of scenarios! The self catering rooms are very basic, but clean enough, with very small dingey bathroom. There is no air conditioning but guests can hire a fan. We would never have picked this property normally, but for £200, it just did the job.
What makes the studios interesting is the fab pool. The pool is the pride and joy of owner Basil. Basil was very helpful throughout the holidays.
There are a few great sandy beaches in Agios Georgious. In fact, the main one was used in the James Bond film For your Eyes Only. The village itself is nothing special, there are a few nice tavernas.
There is a local bus to Corfu Town every hour or so, the journey is about 40 minutes through other resorts such as the beautiful Benitses. For Agios Georgios, you can also catch boat trips to Paxos and Antopaxos. These are fabulous destinations.

Room Tip: If possible, ask for a studio on the ground floor. They are cooler than those on the firts floor.
