“Excellent value-for-money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2011

Having stayed in several of the Grupo Playa Sol hotels and apartments in the nearby area in previous years I was fully expecting a clean, spacious and well-maintained budget accommodation - and the Hotel Maritimo did not disappoint. On arrival we found a spacious, welcoming reception area (open 24 hours) with plenty of tourist information and internet terminals. Our bargain-priced room for two had a good-sized a balcony with perfect views out onto the bay of Figueretes, a double and a single bed and ample storage space. The decor was immaculately clean and simple, and bathroom had a nice large sink, mirror and very powerful shower. The air-conditioning unit was very efficient and quickly kicked out a refreshing cool breeze - perfect when you arrive back from a hot day on the beach or evening on the town. It took us a couple of days to explore fully, but we discovered the on-site gym, swimming pool and huge jacuzzi which was empty but all looked fine!
Negatives: the walls of rooms seem very thin and on one night we were disturbed by a group of inconsiderate American women and Italian guys staggering in and shrieking/talking loudly at 5am! Luckily this was only a problem on one night. We also saw a couple of dead cockroaches in the corridor (although luckily not in our room!) but these were cleaned away by staff the following day and may be expected in a warm Spanish resort. Also, the TV reception was patchy and there was limited choice of channels, but watching TV was not high on my list of priorities! All in all an excellent stay and I would not hesitate to recommend the hotel for those looking for above-average basic accommodation near to Ibiza Town.

Room Tip: Mention that you would like a sea-view on arrival

I tried to look at the positives when my wife and I found ourselves here, we'd had a straight choice between here and the neighbouring Los Molinos, and for the sake of £100 plumped for the 2 Star option.. by crikey we wish we hadnt.

As several other reviewers say, your view is either beautiful or dreadful, ours was dreadful of ugly concrete apartments to the rear of the hotel, so nothing made up for our pokey little room, dirty under the beds, with paper thin walls, and shockingly basic bedding (the pillows were as another reviewer says) filled with bunched up rags. The television sat unappealingly suspended with wires hanging from it opposite the bed, looking as though it were about to fall off,l it offered a good seelction of german tv channels, but only BBC News and CNN, in english, how fascinating.

The breakfast was disgusting, and often ran out. The walls were paper thin, we seemed to be roomed next to a man who enjoyed variously blowing his nose loudly or making regular trips to the lavatory as a source of amusement, noisy is the politest way of describing it, and you could hear all of it plainly.

We hired a car, and even at low season parking was shocking, you just wont get a space near the hotel, the pot hole ridden car park at the end of the parade offered the odd spot, but you risked a puncture driving in it.

The area is tired and in urgent need of a facelift - a real shame when you see the backdrop of the Bay to the south of Ibiza Town, The Puig des Molins, and the beautiful beaches, how did they get it so wrong.

All in all I would never recommend this hotel to a friend, just too basic and managed to take the shine off an otherwise good visit to Ibiza. Its just a little too far from the centre of Ibiza Town, and my tip would be to try and get a hotel right in the centre if we were to go back.

Room Tip: No parking, and breakfast terrible

Booked Maritimo for 3 nights in september 2010. The room was big enough very clean. Balcony with a nice view and quiet neighborhood. Reception sataff very helpful and friendly. Still you do not wanna oversleep because the maids wake you up even though you left the "do not distub sing". Breakfast was good too, but the restrant lady very rude.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2010

We stayed here for 5 nights in July this year, there is a double bed and single bed in the 1 room, big enough, nice, clean, we requested 9 months in advance for high room with sea views, but didnt get it. We had no view from our balcony, and had clothes stolen off our balcony, and our blow up pool float. Dont leave your stuff out to dry on the balcony as it will be taken. Everything else was fine. Close to the beach, restaurants, easy to get to clubs etc.
My friends had a room next to ours and their air con broke wouldnt work, eventually they moved rooms and that air con leaked water all over the floor when they had it on. But ours was fine, worked perfectly. Yes you can hear everything through the walls. But its Ibiza who cares? everyone is there to party anyway.

Just back from 10 days at this budget hotel and found it excellent, good position 15 mins walk Playa de Bossa/Ibiza town/spotless/ one double and one single bed for two people/usual breaky/ok dinner. You won't starve here but obviously if you want 5* then go elsewhere and pay for it. Maid service daily/big bath/power shower/sea view/pools in hotels on either side, what more do you want? Staff helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a cheap break in lovely Ibiza. We had no problems there whatsoever.

We booked this hotel for its location, and decided to risk it even though it had mixed reviews. This hotel will always have extreme reviews - it depends on a) where your room is situated within the hotel, and b) what time of year you stay there.
The building is in the shape of a half circle. The hotel occupies a third of the building - mainly the rooms that no-one would buy. The best rooms are privately owned and this is signified with black railing on their balconies. Our room was on the second floor and faced a wall with railings separating the hotel from the public steps from the bottom of the hill to the top - who could see into the room if the curtains were not drawn. On top of this the hotel generator was directly below us, so we could not have sat out on the balcony for any length of time due to the noise. We could see the sea in one corner of the balcony. We did ask to be moved, but we were given short shrift and were told it is too difficult as they were fully booked. The hotel room walls are fairly thin and there appeared to be a contingent of yobs in residence who did not appreciate being woken up at 9.30am, just as we did not like being woken up at 3 - 4 am. The food was poor - very little choice and did not seem to satisfy either Spanish, German, Italian or French guests who were the main clientele. The hotel is located at the far end of Paseo Maritimo aka dog **** alley. If it were clean, it would have been a pleasant walk along the front to Figueratas. Whilst we were staying there, it rained very heavily which caused the sewage tanks to overflow over the prom - it was not fully cleaned up for 3 days. I expect we were there too early in the season as several hotels were closed, but most of the cafes and bars were in full swing. All in all I would not return to any of the GPS hotels in this area.
