“Great local cooking, very cheap”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2013

Coming down from D'Alt Vila, I was told about this restaurant, and there we went. First thing you notice is people queuing up in front of an anassuming little place, and you wait after being written in the log, not much to wait though and you are called and sitted(you must share table) and it is when you can have a choice of local specialties (grilled sepia, fried squid, steaks, stuffed egg plants, etc.) for 3 dishes, housewine and gaseosa for 2 people, price was 25€. Don't miss it

“An authentic, simple but of great character restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2013 via mobile

First night I peep from the window this crowdy place where people seemed to really enjoy food and ambiance, second day we went there: impossible to have a place without a reservation! too good!
Food is simple and very tasty, well prepared with authentic and good local ingredients. Service is good and friendly. Prices more than corrects. Do not miss it if you are around. No idea what happens in full season...;-)

“If you're heading to Ibiza, don't overlook this gem!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

Comidas Bar San Juan was recommended to us by friends who knew we were heading into Ibiza Town. From the pavement you'd be forgiven for wanting to walk past as it's not the most spectacular venue, but I promise you that you'd be overlooking one of Ibiza Town's best restaurants.

Rumour has it (as has been mentioned in other reviews), that this is one of the oldest restaurants on the island. It still looks dressed as if it is, and has a 'tipico' charm about it which gives it a very authentic Ibicenco feel. Be warned, there are two ways to enter this restaurant, there is the 'on street' side which leads in to the slightly cramped restaurant. Follow through the restaurant and out to the other side and there is an outdoor seated area which is great for watching passers by (but be warned, these are in short supply and they won't let you settle in these seats before 1pm - when the restaurant officially opens for lunch).

Food choices are fairly standard spanish fayre with country salads, omlettes, sobrasada, lamb chops, soups, spanish meats and cheeses on offer. Prices are very competitive, somewhere in the region of €3-4 for starters, €6-12 for mains. I've never had the menu del dia, so can't comment on it or it's price. Portions are generous, served piping hot, and very tasty (using locally sourced ingredients).

It is very much an in, eat and leave kind of deal as the restaurant relies on good throughput of people during each sitting, so they'll prefer you not to loiter to long when you've finished your meal.

A very different proposition to what we usually go for, but none-the-less a very enjoyable place to stop for lunch during a day out in Ibiza Town, or after a trip up to Dalt Villa.

Top tip: Get there early (e.g. 1pm) to guarantee a table. If you have mobility issues or require wheelchair access to bathrooms be warned the toilets have very restricted access.

“One of the oldest Resturants in Ibiza”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2013 via mobile

Everybody talks about comida San Juan, it is fantastic. And very cost effective. The food is very authentic Balearic style. Great family vibes all round. Get there early avoid disappointment.

“My favourite restaurant in Ibiza!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

I love this place so much! The first time I went we were greeted by a middle aged man and 2 menus. Pictures on the wall indicated that he opened this place with his friends many years ago.

There is a dust on the floor and if needed you share your table with other diners. This might not be for everyone, but I enjoy speaking to other diners. The menu is in Spanish and Catalan (neither of which I can speak), but I guarantee if you pick anything on the menu it will taste great. Every dish comes with some patatas bravas and a little salad.

The food in this place is unbelievably good value, as is the wine. If you only drink 1/2 the bottle of house wine, that's all they charge you for. I think this only comes to a couple of euros!

When we were there, there was 3 women churning out all the food. Make sure you go early as people queue to get in! In the summer they have seats outside and they don't open on Sunday.

I am travelling to Ibiza in a couple of weeks and I will definitely be dining here more than once!
