“A great place to stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2012

Ok folks this hotel is 1 star but the service is 5 and the atmosphere is 10.
I read the reviews before i arrived and expected a dump "i don't get some people who write reviews sometimes" this place is very cool.
The Hotel Marigna is run by two great German guys Rene and Michael with an incredible polite and fun staff, a heavy German clientele(all very friendly)but quite a few other european people staying there myself from London.
Room was comfortable great beds super clean and a spotless bathroom view out too the mountains and apartments.
Breakfast was a good enough choice for most folks one Sunday we had salmon very posh.
Basically i had a great time here yes is predominately gay but straight folks are welcome the bar is open 24/7 and Nico and Neil are the most fantastic staff ever.
Easy to get into Ibiza town 15 min ,a short walk to tons of great restaurants beaches supermarkets bike moped hire ferry to Formentera this part of Ibiza has everything i did not touch a Big club or venture to San Antonio in my 12 days stay so if you are looking to chill and relax this is the place to do it.
I have stayed in some of the worlds top hotels(Claridges/Dorchester) and i can honestly say service is service 1 star or 6 star i will be returning to Hotel Marigna for their custom i miss them already and Thank you.

We didnt stay at this hotel but used the bar virtually every day! While the hotel was quiet as it wasnt quite in season in Ibiza, we found the staff really friendly and helpful, the terrace area is a really nice spot, the drinks are very reasonably priced espeically compared to some of the gay bars in Ibiza so couldnt really fault it to be honest. Didnt see the bedrooms but certainly enjoyed the service that we recevied.

Stayed here for 8 nights in early September. A time-warp me thinks, stuck in the 90's.
Very noisy, esp at 4am, with guests from other hotels sat drinking under our bedroom window.....no apologies just a "that's how it is" comment. Overwhelmingly German clients, extremely noisy and surly. At £1000 for the week..I expected more than I got....poor breakfast, nosiy air-con, shabby beds and linen..I could go on. Avoid it!

Room Tip: None on the front of the building as these are over the noist bar area

Stayed here with a few friends. We are all young gay professionals from the UK. The reviews on here are right. The place is expensive for what it is and very outdated. The whole thing is like an early 90's nightmare with art work to match! The staff are ignorant and surly. The manager was extremely rude to me and several other people when we stayed.
Maybe the owners need to admit defeat and retire now?? as they just seem bitter and twisted, there is zero party atmosphere at this place. The rooms are clean but very basic. The breakfast has cheap ingredients and is not good. There is a sun terrace on the roof with no pool and a very sad looking jacuzzi in the corner. All in all I would give this place a 4/10 but the staff i would give 2/10 as they were simply rude and at times seemed almost hostile which is not what you want when you go away for a nice relaxing holiday with your friends.

This gay operated hotel is run by two German guys who do a good job, and quite a few of the guests are German too. This is not a luxury hotel and it is a bit dated especailly the cheaper rooms, but its generally well maintained and clean. If you want something more upmarket try the Cenit which is more expensive. There are two types of room. If your budget can stand it definitely go for the deluxe room which is bigger and has a balcony, a/c, stereo, fridge, etc. The other rooms are basic and on the small side. Good buffet breakfast. All day bar with a small terrace at the front. This hotel doesn't have a pool but the big plus point is it's very close to the Cenit Hotel just a two minute walk up the road, which has a fantastic pool bar and cafe open to residents of the Marigna, with the most terrific view of the coastline, which is very popular with local and visiting gays. We were there every day! There is also a beach within five minutes walk and some local bars and restaurants in Figueretas, but its only about 15 minutes walk into Ibiza town, so very handy. There's a bus stop nearby for the main gay beach in Salinas.

Me and my partner stayed here thinking it would be great to stay at a gay hotel while in Ibiza. Well that is the only positive thing about this place. It is extremely old and outdated. We had to close our bathroom door to keep the terrible stink from the rest of the room. Our double room was 2 poorly constructed handmade beds that were pushed together to simulate a queen/king bed? Every time we would move in our sleep the beds would scoot across the tile floor. In the morning we would push them back together. The rooms are VERY basic and not really all that inexpensive. We asked for an iron and we were told to come down and get it. Later that evening while we were on our way out the general manager, quite loudly asked us why we haven't returned the iron. We felt like we were being accused of trying to take the iron, and in front of many other hotel guests.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2010

I am just back a few days from my trip to Ibiza with my best friend and our stay at the Marigna Hote was most enjoyable. I would have to say that above all, the staff are most friendly and Michael the manager does everything possible to make sure that all guest feel most welcome and that their queries are answered.

The Marigna has mainly a gay clientele but there were some straight couples there durning our stay. The rooms are quite basic ( we did not stay in the delux rooms ) but clean and functional and the roof top terrance in a sun trap and clothing optional. We spent most of our time at the pool of the Cenit Hotel which you can use if you are staying at the Marigna and again the staff there are excellent and the cafe style food at lunch time is quite delicious. This bar is also a good place to have sun-downers as it is quite high up.

One day we went to Es Cavallet beach which was lovely although a bit of a trek when you get off the bus. The Marigna hotel is no more than a 15 mins walk into Ibiza town and the whole area is very safe and really, in terms of location you cannot beat the Marigna.

The buffet breakfast in the morning is adequate but as some have said before, it would be nice if the choice was chanced around a bit. Although there is a dining room, everyone eats out on the terrace which is lovely and the breakfast goes on until 1.00pm.

There is a great bar in this hotel, small but cozy. It really does become the hub of the hotel as you end up meeting people there for a drink when you get back from the beach, on the way out for dinner or on your way back to the hotel after a night in the bars/clubs.

Michael, keep up the good work; we had a best time. See you next year !!

Graham
