“Lovely accommodation and location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

We have just returned from a week at this apartment complex, me having won the holiday last year when in Lanzarote.

It wasn't our first choice, but we were happy all the same. The location is good, just a 25 minute drive from the airport, with beautiful views over the poolside and the sea for every room. We were made very welcome with a glass of champagne while checking in - a lovely touch considering we were self-catering (although I'm not daft, there were looking to sell).

We had an unfurbished one bedroomed apartment, and whilst some parts looked maybe a little tired, it was spotlessly clean and the kitchen was very well stocked with everything you could need. Bearing in mind, we eat out of an evening, we would have had everything at hand had we have cooked a dinner.

The bathrooms was spacious and, again, whilst tired looking with chipped tiles and cheap looking furniture, it was spotlessly clean with plenty of towels.

Twin beds ... not for us ... but I don't think you get the choice. After a slight re-arrangement of the bedroom we were ok with it. Nice patio doors in the bedroom which were nice left open during the day and, no doubt, in high season, would be welcomed in the night.

The living area offered a dining table, a large dresser, sofa, TV and more patio doors.

The maid service was excellent and she came in every day, except for Sundays understandably, and she did a thorough job and one giveaway of that was that I noticed my perfumes had been re-arranged! Meaning, she must have had them all off to dust the dresser! (Only women would notice when perfume has been moved!)

The pool area was comfortable and uncrowded. If I were to find one criticism, it would be that there were too many English staff. When we go away, we go to get away in every sence of the word and when in Rome, and all that ... so that was a little disappointing, but I appreciate this is a time share complex and the Brits go back year after year. We had to sit through a presentation, despite it being made clear that we would not be buying into the place as that format is not our cup of tea.

All in all, a great place (despite 3 1/4 hours being taken out of my sunshine day with the presentation!), lovely staff, and plenty to do, including lovely eateries and day time park type activities to enjoy.

Stayed here at end of February, had a lovely holiday'. The hotel reception staff were very helpful and friendly, especially Gemma, our room was spacious and clean. We had a view looking out to the sea and the heated swimming pool, beautiful. Hotel food excellent, lovely staff reps, who are always making sure you are comfortable, especially a lovely lady called Karin and also Dougie who greets you when you arrive and is also very helpful and friendly. We had a very relaxing holiday, it was a shame to come back to cold England.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view on upper floors

We stayed in a refurbished apartment at the begining of February. It was quite small but totally adequate and kept immaculately clean, as were the public areas by the very impressive housekeepers. Unfortunately we had very noisy neighbours on the floor above who for some unknown reason decided to re-arrange furniture around midnight each night whilst wearing high heels. The restaurant staff were extremely helpful, and Rita the Lifeguard, very friendly and efficient. Breakfast was very good. The evening 'entertainment' was dire. Taking into consideration the number of people staying at the resort and the number in the bar at night, I think we were not the only ones to be un-impressed. The topic of conversation overheard again and again was how many points people had, maintenance fees, and who was meeting which rep when. This was probably due to the timeshare reps permanently prowling around. One of the reps told us they are trying to get away from the Hi de Hi image. This I think will be a struggle. Callao Salvaje is extremely quiet and is short of good quality restaurants. I can understand people returning to Pearly Grey for the comfort factor of the friendliness of some of the staff, but if you are not into back slapping and 'skinny dipping in the pool at 2 am in the morning when drunk' it's not to be recommended.

Thanks for leaving a review of your recent stay at our resort.
Sorry to hear you had noisy neighbours staying above you.
We are alarmed to hear your comment about skinny dipping in the pool at 2am, this is not typical of Pearly Grey and I would expect the culprits were removed from the pool as soon as the night receptionist was informed.

Kind regards

3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

We stayed here for a week at the start of Feb '13. We received the warmest of welcomes from some lovely reception staff. Who proved to be very kind and helpful throughout the week. We stayed in a 2 bed appartment (110) it was OK, a little out-dated though. As a family we included 2 adults, a teenager (13) and a baby (19 months). We had to have the cot in our room as there was no room in the twin room. We found the appartment a little bit cramped, but it was functional and clean. Thankfully we had a TV with plenty of English channels, a godsend as we all were ill the first few days (not the Hotels fault). Both my Husband and I agreed that the bed was the most uncomfortable thing we had ever slept on, he took to the sofa in the lounge most nights. The Hotel was clean and tidy and the pool was great. They could possibly think about heating the baby pool as well as the main pool though.. Our baby loved the play ground. The resort is sweet, lots of little shops, pubs and Restaurants. We did find the resort a bit far away from the "action", with a baby in tow, it was trying at times to get a 20 minute bus to Playas de las Americas. But if you are looking for a quiet, peaceful Holiday and don't want to leave your hotel much, the Pearly Grey would really suit. Its a great Hotel. They were doing some refurbishments whilst we were there, but you would have hardly known, they were very quiet. From what we gather the room we were in will be up-dated eventually. we had supper in the Hotel one night and the food was top-notch. Overall, it was a lovely Holiday and we did like the Hotel, we only wish we had got some better nights sleep (due to the matress) but some people may love a bed that hard - each to their own I suppose. Thank You Pearly Grey.

We have been owners at Pearly Grey for over 10 years. Whilst we like to travel to other places we keep coming back. This is a beautiful place, the staff are excellent, they can not do enough for you. The rooms very good but, because of major refurbishment, they will be even better by next year. Callao Salvaje is a quiet town, but there are some really nice restaurants (see my other reviews) and bars. Great place if you want to sit back relax and enjoy good company. Pearly Grey usually has some form of entertainment on in the bar and restaurant is worth a visit. What really makes Pearly Grey work is the commitment of all the staff. We will be back in October.

We took a last minute holiday to Pearly Grey Ocean Club and were delighted with our apartment which was large and airy. The food was super and the staff were more than helpful. The hotel facilities were tip top and we had a great break Would love to go again some time soon.

Booked the Pearly Grey through the Armed Forces Vacation Club. Exterior had been recently painted so property sign wasn't visible. Room acceptable but dated- beautiful view of the Atlantic. No beach. Patio was undergoing a renovation, very noisy. Restaurant food was above average. Excellent restaurants within walking distance. Use of the gym is extra. CNN and BBC only english channels. Fly into Southern Tenerife airport. Northern airport is more than an hour's drive away but doable. High speed freeway. Mostly British tenants.
