hotel was great- lovely people, clean tidy rooms - fresh flowers every day. Beach very stony. Go to the old beach. Windmill restaurant is great and the mosiacs are a must. Try Kaliva taverna in town for real Greek cuisine.

This was my first visit it Greece and after my stay at the 9 Muses and the village of Skala, I couldn't honestly believe I'd never ventured there before. We were greeted by the owners of the hotel and our cases whisked off to our room in a little golf buggy. Our room although not on an upper floor as requested was clean with a fridge, tea making facilities, nice bathroom, air con, flat screen tv and a small terrace over looking the small wedding chapel. The breakfast was plentiful with fresh fruit salad, yogurt, cheeses, cereals toast etc served in the lovely restaurant overlooking the sea, we ate there in the evening also, and the food was very good. All the staff from the owners to the gardeners were all friendly and helpful, with a smile on their faces. The grounds are immaculate and the flowers at this time of the year were beautiful. Skala is a lovely place with many nice restaurants and bars and due to the Greek economy I thought it would be expensive but apparently the owners have kept their prices down to encourage the customers, the meals we had were reasonable and the wine was extremelly cheap-and good. Just waiting to go back to the 9 Muses and Skala.

Room Tip: I wanted an upper room but unfortunately didn't get one even though I e mailed the hotel, appare...

We just returned from our yearly visit to Kefalonia and the resort of Skala. Being predictable we stayed at the 9 Muses because it is a little piece of perfection providing an unforgettable stay. The hotel is owned by a group of families and this really shows as they are there constantly to help if you need it. Peter is a lovely gentleman who will sit and have a chat and share with you his experiences of the island. The hotel is extremely clean and has recently undergone some upgrades in the rooms with some new furniture and TV's being fitted. There are 2 lovely pools and if you stay please go and visit the chapel on site you will not be disappointed with the charm of a small open chapel.

There are 2 bars, we drink at the Avra bar which is run by Amanda who is just fab and makes amazing cocktails. All of the staff are lovely and work very hard to keep up the lovely nature of the hotel. The only disappointment was that MIkey who used to run the Vesta bar was not there this year, he was a real gent and full of information about the island and places to visit. We really missed Mikey this year and would really hope to see him back at the hotel very soon.

If you stay here you will not be disappointed with the hotel, the staff or the location.

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely but the rooms overlooking the pool provide a superb view of the pool and th...

I stayed here in May 2012. It is kept very clean and the staff are warm and friendly. THe hotel is mainly 2 bedded rooms and whilst there was nearly all couples although young children and babies are catered for.
You would not believe that the majority of the hotel is 15 years old as it is kept in pristine condition. This time of year the gardens are full of roses and geraniums.
It is across the road from the beach. The main road for shops and bars is about 5 mins walk away. Out of the hotel, past some fields and other hotels, up a short slight incline or steps and you are there. There are bakers, supermarkets, bars restaurants and car hire establishments
The drinks at the Avra Bar in the hotel are discounted during happy hour and is a great place to see the day out.
As the greek economy is in a bad state the road outside the hotel is uneven and is unlikely to get better in the near future. It's still perfectly walkable though. Cross the road and you are on pavement.
Food in the town and hotels are fairly evenly priced 8 to 10 euros for a typical main course. THis includes the 23% VAT on everything.
Excursions through the tour operator seemed expensive so we decided to hire a car from Greekstones. Antonis & Maria there are very helpful and the deal offers a very comprehensive package. Driving this time of year is a joy but summer months will be different as there will be many Italians on the road.
To sum up we loved the hotel, resort, island and its people and will be looking to go again within the year.

Lets start with the bad point - the breakfast is limited and anything hot has to be paid for as additional. The only negative comment I have.
Otherwise we had a great week at the very end of the season. The hotel we booked closed early so we where moved to the 9 Muses. The accommodation, pools etc all great. The evening meals on half board was fantastic. Magic week.

Room Tip: Ground floor gets a bit of noise from above,. scraping chairs etc

We stayed at the 9 Muses for the last two weeks of the season, all the staff at the hotel are very polite and were attentive to all our needs the layout of the actual hotel was like a small village with individual blocks of rooms, which were tastefully laid out and decorated, over the past 23 years we have travelled to many Greek islands but the 9 Muses hotel does have the nicest rooms we have ever stayed in whilst visiting Greece and yet, has kept the traditional Greek atmosphere one of the owners Mr Angelo is always helpful and will always make sure that your stay at the hotel is an enjoyable one, he is not at all intrusive he just makes sure that everything runs perfectly, so all his guests have a great stay.

Our room was at the rear of the hotel near a second pool it had a beautiful view of the mountains and the sea it was kept immaculately clean by our cleaner Forteenie who never seemed to stop working all day. We didn’t worry about having a safe as we found the staff at the hotel to be very trust worthy. Athena one of the waitresses at breakfast would always greet us with a smile and ask if we would like tea or coffee again she was so attentive to all the guests working throughout the day. Myrto on reception is so helpful and is a real asset to the hotel, she is so enthusiastic about everyone enjoying there holiday, sharing great tips on where to go and what to do a great ambassador for the hotel, although all the reception girls are very helpful too.

The variety at breakfast we thought was excellent it was a continental theme but again the best we have experienced in our years of travelling to various traditional Greek hotels, the lunch and evening food at the hotel was consistently good and a fair price.

Mr Angelo one of the owners has got this hotel so right, if we return to Skala we would certainly return to the 9 Muses were as a couple we can relax with like minded people and where guests respect there surroundings.

This hotel is Adult focused but in my opinion, I think Skala is in general, just getting into the sea can be a challenge as the sea becomes deep quite quickly, and you can easily loose your footing. Kefilonia is a lovely Island with other resorts such as Lassi catering more for families. If you’re a couple and are after a quite relaxing holiday then the 9 Muses is a good choice.

Our thanks to all the 9 Muses Staff who made our stay so welcoming and memorable.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear of the are quieter

Myself and my girlfriend stayed at this hotel in mid August. Without doubt it is the best European hotel we have ever stayed in. Very clean and well presented rooms and grounds. Choice of two great pools (we preferred the smaller quiter pool). Very friendly bar area with Makis (great guy) great for a drink or two before and after a meal in town. Location is right on the beach and 5 minute walk from the main town. The hotel has a very good restaurant at the front too (recommend the beef stiffado). All in all this was the perfect holiday for us, we are in our early thirties / late twenties but Skala is suitable for all types, younger, older, families except young singles. Come to Skala and stay here at Nine muses!
