My hubbie and I had a fabulous two week holiday at the Louis Apostolata in May.
The room was very clean and spacious, although the coffee could have been replensished on a daily basis! That said it is difficult to write anything negative about this hotel.
The views are fantastic and yes you do need to have strong legs for the steps but this should be obvious with the descriptions of the hotel. The food is fine, am glad that we didnt go all inclusive but thats only because I personally didnt like the house wine.
I am amazed by the comments on here with regards to the food but then again if all you want to do is go away and eat like a pig then maybe you wouldnt be impressed.
The upshot is that people shoud really do their research if they want something specific in their choice of holiday.
The staff were great, helpful and friendly so maybe its a case of being friendly to them also and not expecting them to be at your beck and call.
My hubbie contaced reception to request 4 champagne glasses as it was our wedding anniversary and within 5 minutes a bottle of wine and basket of fruit appeared at the door!
We will most definately return and I would recommend this accomodation and resort to anybody.

The hotel was only two weeks into the season when we arrived. Our flight had been delayed, so we didn,t arrive at the hotel until 11pm. We were taken to our room on a golf buggy and were delighted to find that we had been upgraded to a suite and were greeted with two plates of cold meats and salad, a basket of fruit and a chilled bottle of wine.
The room was extremely comfortable and clean, with a double balcony and stunning sea view, kitchen area with fridge, sink and work top (no cooking facilities) and a large bathroom with jaccuzzi.
Unlike other reviewers, we found the staff very friendly and helpful (perhaps because we treated them with a little respect). The room was meticulously cleaned daily and all linen changed daily.
We found the food to be of a high standard, and it was nice to see a good selection of Greek dishes each night and not the usual "international " tat. Breakfast included almost everything that you could think of (including Egg,Bacon and even baked beans).
The large pool area was excellent, with plenty of sunbeds and parasols, the only downside being that the hotel is built on avery steep cliff top location, so plenty of steps and extremely steep hills to climb. The staff were always ready to ferry people around in the golf buggies however.
Entertainment was quite limited. A very good singer and keyboard player performed most evenings, but in the reception area. The poor chap had a terrible time competing with the television, telephones, and the general traffic through the area etc.
If you do use this hotel, a hire car is a necessity, as it is a long way from the resort centre, which in itself is only a small village, and there are no shops bars etc within easy walking distance.

Stayed at Louise Apostolata twice last year. Don't ask me why , it was the island I fell in love with not the hotel. Food not to Loiuse standard and staff that couldn't care less.

We went to the Apostolata for our honeymoon, paid for Superior room with sea view. On arrival we were taken to our room on a little golf buggy where a bottle of chilled 'champagne' was waiting for us. we cracked it open and sat on the terrace craning our necks to get our sea view..... not! The room was lovely but we had been put in a standard room! The Manager realised the mistake and came and collected us in the little buggy to show us a Superior room which was even better, but the view was of a building site and a little bit of the sea! Being all inclusive you are treated as second class and the queues for the bar were horrendous. The food was good and the pool was great. All in all very clean, but its a long way down to the pool, several rests required on way back up all the steps. No beach close by so we had a car for a few days just to get out. You have to pay for any Spa treatments and its not cheap. Plenty of sun lounger reservers, so get up early to put your towel down...... 6am is recommended!!! The 2 girls running the 'entertainment' were so lovely, but the quiz is repeated. We remembered the answers from our first week so we won several times in our second week. Good laugh though! I would definitely go back sometime but its a big world out there!

We went to the hotel Apostolata In Scarla Kefalonia in Oct this year 2008 and we had a great holiday..apart from the very abrupt and unhelpful staff. On arrival we had been upgraded to a beautiful suite overlooking the sea with a fantastic double sunken jacuzi bath and it couldn't have been nicer, however it was obvious the staff were tired and ready to close down after what must have been a gruelling season and their abruptness was really quite disturbing. The hotel caters for All Inclusive, Bed and Breakfast and Half Board which was obviously way too much for all the staff to have to cope with. If you were All Inclusive you were made to feel like you should have been appologising every time you asked for a drink!! The ASSISTENT Manager was the only civil and pleasent person in the whole hotel. Also going in October was a nightmare for the wasps and I mean a nightmare they were everywhere by the pool and you couldn't relax for a moment with any kind of drink without them swarming around. In my opinion the hotel is beautiful but needs to be either All Inclusive or Half Board, they cannot cope with more than one catagory and for this reason I would not go back. Also the food wasn't that clever either. This hotel is not really for the elderly as there are hundreds of stone steps to get up to the hotel and down to the pool area, hoever there is a buggy service and to use this you call reception and they will send a buggy for you to take you up to the hotel restaurent or bar etc.
