“This has to be the best hotel on Kefalonia”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2011

This is our third visit to Kefalonia and we only booked again because of this hotel. The Tesoro Blu lived up to all our expectations and even exceeded them on the food front as we don't normally book half board.
We hadn't been to Greece for 9 years and had forgotten how lovely the Greek people are. The owner even gave us a lift on his golf buggy when we were walking to another hotel to watch the England football game!
The bed is the best we have ever slept in, in fact we have never slept more on a holiday as it was so relaxing and peaceful. The slippers and dressing gowns are also a very nice touch.
We had a problem with our shower on the first night and it was all fixed by the time we got back from dinner.
The pool area is stunning looking out over the sea. We were not there for evening entertainment - too busy sleeping - but Joe was very good.
I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough, for it's first season it was amazing and can only think when the spa opens next year it will be even better.

Room Tip: All rooms looked good, for something different, use Square 2 - we had nibbles and a bottle of wine d...

Just come back after a fantastic relaxing holiday in Tesoro Blu, like so many others we found this hotel excellent . The service right from the managers down to the house keeping was first class, everyone was so friendly and nothing was to much trouble . The hotel is very modern and the rooms are built to a very high standard with lots of FREE facilities like your safety deposit box , air condition . the rooms are thoroughly cleaned EVERY day including fresh towels replaced.
The restaurant was faultless , staff always happy to help. The food variety was varied and plenty to a very high standard . In the evenings we enjoyed the great atmosphere from the pool / sea view listening to the acoustics of Joe. This was for us a truly most enjoyable stay at a stunningly beautiful hotel .

We got back last week after spending 2 fab weeks at this excellent hotel, everthing about our stay was first class and I am finding it difficult to add to the already excellent reviews on this site. The owners who as stated are on hand what seemed like 24/7 are looking at and taking notice of the reviews, When I was there the food was excellent and I was able to eat something different every night. The room was a short walk up a not very steep hill and they are well appointed with very good shower in ours, the bed was very comfortable with only 1 negative for me and that was the pillow too thick.
And now the best part of all the STAFF are the best I have ever had the pleasure meeting they are friendly, efficient and attentive without being over the top.
Demitri and Will the Bryan Brown and Tom Cruise of the white bar have a menu for cocktails but tell them what you like and they came up with an interesting twist on your favorites, Joe the singer was better without backing tracks than with in my opinion and I had to mention him he's in the title.
I rarely go back to hotels but I really can see myself making an exception and may even go back next year..

I think all the best bits of this great hotel have been mentioned but here goes with my experience.

The hotel is of a modern design not to everyones taste but we loved it (but i didn't try the designer chair the metal one in the reception (people who have stayed will understand).

The staff as everyone has mentioned where outstanding and very helpful i would not like to single any particular person but as mentioned previously Victoria was exceptional and enjoyed her birthday on Sunday with all the guest’s wishing her all the best...

The rooms are well thought out in both furnishing, decor and facilities and yes the beds are for me the best we have slept in (we did a lot of sleeping). The Pool and Jacuzzi were amazing but cold when first you get in.
Meal times where a treat both breakfast and evening meals had a good choice but must also say that the house red wine was excellent but we had to explain that red is nice at room temperature and not served in an ice bucket...... staff got the picture.

Jamie the Thomson rep was very helpful and works well with the guests and staff (I hope you can stay at that resort)

Our last night we had the opportunity to have Joe play some tunes for us alone as everyone else had gone to bed....... and must say that boy can play a mean blues guitar. He was fantastic some people don't understand the varied music styles he play’s from pop, contemporary to rock and roll. Keep up the good work Joe your a real star.

Once this hotel is completed ( Spa and the 4 luxury suites) it will take some beating for a great ? star hotel (not yet rated) next year will be great the work that the management and staff have put in will pay dividends.

If you are reading this and wonder what age group the hotel caters for shall I say ALL (young at heart but not children )
Please go with an open mind, relax and enjoy an excellent hotel

This is a beautiful hotel. Lovely, modern rooms, good facilities - Pool, Bar etc, but best of all are the staff. Everyone does their utmost to make you feel special.
Some tips that anyone considering this hotel may wish to know:
Rooms are in 2 storey buildings, all sited a short uphill walk away from the main building which houses all the other facilities. Rooms starting with numbers 1, 2 and 8 are nearest to main building and 5 the farthest away. Due to the topography of the site, some rooms appear to be on higher floors. The room we had was on the upper storey and had a view down the drive to the main building. It seemed that some lower floor rooms had very little outlook - could be across a courtyard to the back of another building. However, all upper floor rooms are approached by around 20 steps - no lifts, so if you find steps are a problem, you may want to request a lower floor. Some rooms have showers only - (fancy multi - functional ones), while others have have baths with showers over. Some rooms have twin beds rather than doubles. So if you are fussy about those features, you might want to contact the hotel in advance to try to secure the room type you prefer.
The food could be a bit predictable, but the management have been picking up on feedback, and by our second week had become more varied. It was all well cooked, well presented and plentiful. Another tip is if you ask, they will do their best to accomodate you. At breakfast, poached or fried eggs could be requested and new dishes introduced into the evening meal following requests from guests.
Don't bother reserving sunbeds by the pool - there were always spare beds and there are more in reserve for the rare occasions that all the ones set out are in use.
Daytime and evening entertainment are low - key, but was very enjoyable, particularly if you get yourselves involved. We particularly enjoyed the tai - chi on Sunday mornings.
This year, there were a selection of drinks and light lunches / snacks at reduced prices between 1pm and 4pm, which compared favourably with the prices in the few bars/restaurants within a short walk of the hotel.
Of course, this year not all the facilities were available - the spa is due to open next year and there were also some superior/ luxury suites not yet completed. The finally completed facilities, though, will just be the icing on the cake. What is really impressive about the hotel is that the staff are brilliant and the owner /managers are on site, mixing with the guests and learning from feedback all the time. It may have been slightly short of 100% this year, but I would expect it to be even btter next year!

I would like to add a little to the eloquent and accurate review by arniehammer (02.10.11). My wife and I were there overlapping their stay and we were the couple who pointed out the sun-bed problem to the owners on Monday, 26th. It wasn't really a complaint to them just an observation that we were disappointed that the sun-beds were being reserved, particularly that day. The reaction of the two gentlemen was immediate and they appeared to be totally unaware that it was happening. We too were allowed to use one of the gazebo beds free of charge and for about an hour there was frenetic activity by staff to ensure that everyone who wanted to lie in the sun could do so. We have raised similar points previously at a number of hotels where the reaction, if you're lucky, is a shrug of the shoulders. This was a refreshing change and the moral of the story is raise the issue at the time not on Trip Advisor when you get back.
This was the only day in our week that this happened and all other day's there were ample sun-beds for all. There were the usual suspects who everyday had to have the same beds in the same location but when there are plenty it makes them look sad and their antics quite comical. Having said that I agree again with arniehammer that there were some lovely people on holiday that week that helped to make our holiday enjoyable.
On the food front we couldn't fault it. My wife is a vegetarian (eats fish but I can't spell piscitarian)and found more than enough to satisfy her. The reduced price menu at lunch is very reasonable and compares well with others within walking distance.
We would definitely return for many reasons especially the peace and quiet that comes with no children or juveniles.

We have been watching the forums on this new hotel and were not disapointed
Lovely weather, buildings,food,room,bath,pool,staff.
Nothing was missed out. Not a child in sight or sound!
Thank you Peter and family for our super holiday.
Best wishes to you and the wonderful hotel that you have created
We hope to return before too long,

The transfers were somewhat protracted but that is a Thomson issue, I would get a hire car at the airport next time.

Room Tip: We asked for sea view, double bed and bath! Got all. So spoilt ! No I am not going to say which ro...
