We had the best time laying in the infinity pool and seeing the sites around. This is the perfect location for accessing surrounding stores (to cook romantic dinners in the cottage!), diving, and snorkling. The pool and view are amazing and you can take a short walk to the lagoon nearby and spend the day! I would recommend to anyone interesting in spending time in Caymen! Hosts have lived on the island over 20 years and are super helpful and know everyone!

Sea Spray Cottage was just what we were looking for--a small quiet place with a full kitchen and NOT in Georgetown or seven mile beach. Bodden Town is in the middle of the island making everything convenient. A car rental can even be included when booking, which is through Turtle's Nest

The extras such as use of a prepaid cell phone and net book were the icing on the cake.

Very clean cottage, with coastal location and infinity pool overlooking the Caribbean. Your hosts Anne and Bill have the cottage provided with every amenity a vacationing or business traveler would need. Just ask Bill, as I have, if you need anything else. I particularly enjoyed the evening walks to the sandy beach in this area considered by many as the "most Cayman" of all on Grand Cayman. You cannot do better if you desire a location away from Seven Mile Beach, you can even view the elusive Agouti

I don't really have much to add that others haven't already said about Sea Spray Cottage. We just returned from a week's stay - my wife and I and our 8 year old daughter. The cottage isn't luxurious but was just what I expected after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor. We had an incredible stay and hope to return soon.

The hosts think of everything their guests may possibly need. Some items that I hadn't anticipated they would provide: a prepaid cell phone for our use during the stay; laundry detergent; beach chairs; snorkeling equipment.

We enjoyed having a full kitchen with all necessary supplies, which allowed us to prepare many of our own meals to keep expenses down. We also utilized the in-cottage laundry - we purposely packed lightly (for us) since we knew we'd be able to wash our clothes as needed during our stay. We also enjoyed having access to the pool at the main house.

Some may want to be closer to a nicer and larger beach (Beach Bay is just down the road, but it's small and I was disappointed by the litter). But we liked the location since we had a rental car and intended to tour as much of the island as possible - the cottage is convenient to all areas of the island.

Our daughter already misses Bill (the host), plus the birds (Popeye and Olive), the cat (Sooty), the lizards and crabs, etc.

Bill, Anne, a little cat named sooty, and 2 sweet birds are wonderful hosts at this quaint, clean, fully appointed casita. We enjoyed our time here and are convinced that this is THE PLACE TO BE on the island. It is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood, yet within close proximity to the 7-mile beach area if you are looking for shopping, tours, and watering holes. The car rental is a necessity on the island regardless of where you stay. The island offers a different atmosphere in each town which should not be missed. We picked up and dropped off the car with no hassle as TNI had already booked this for us. Just be ready to drive on the left. Rental cars have a different colored license plate so the locals know you may an an inexperiened lefty-driver.

Restaurants are pretty expensive on the island so we were relieved that we had a kitchen at Sea Spray and did not have to exist solely upon hotel snack bars and tiki drinks. Groceries and alcohol are still pricey in Cayman stores, but there is still a substantial savings over eating out every meal. Bill gave us coolers and ice packs for our picnics, and TNI has an ice machine which we raided frequently as well. Restaurants of note: The Wharf and a little fish shack a short walk up the beach from TNI. Brickhouse is also good if you are tired of seafood. There we watched a little hockey with some Canucks and had a very good pizza. Another place called Chicken! Chicken! had the best rotisserie chicken with plenty of island spiced side dishes.

We spent most of our time on the island adventuring to different beaches, snorkeling, and picnicking. Bill was always there to give advice. We took a stingray city snorkeling tour on a catamaran with an old salty named Dexter which TNI suggested (see link on the TNI page) and it was wonderful. Bill helped us choose a day for this in which no cruise ships were in port and we practically had the trip to ourselves. This cruise was a definite highlight and very reasonably priced. TNI also has excellent snorkeling just a short swim out from the beach. We did not do much shopping, but did do some browsing near the port when no cruise ships were docked. We noticed that the local craftsmen are not at all pushy as on other islands. This was appreciated. There are many high-end jewelry stores for the duty free enthusiasts.

We like many others, spent our sunsets at Sea Spray- cold beverage in hand and the faint scent of cuban cigars somewhere in the distance. We never found anywhere else we would rather be this time of day. I think we solved most of the worlds problems with Bill each evening. He is a well traveled bloke from Liverpool - we enjoyed his perspective on life.

We would definitly stay here again!!!

A word to divers coming to Cayaman:
**If you are looking to scuba dive on the island, make sure you have logged a dive within the last year. Since we had not been in the last 12 months, the dive operators wanted us to do a pool dive with them before leaving the dock. As experienced divers, we were very turned off by this due to the additional cost and time required. If you are in the same boat, consider taking a pool dive at home with your local shop so as not to burn time and money while you are on the island. **

We cannot disagree with the great things already reported in other TA reviews of the Sea Spray Cottage. We would like to reinforce some of the things from prior reviews.

In general, this beautiful home and cottage are situated on a rugged southern looking shoreline with a beautiful view of the Caribbean. Bill made it clear from the beginning of our stay that we were welcome to knock on his door at any time if we needed assistance. We enjoyed an occasional poolside cocktail with Bill on some evenings; he’s a great guy and as a long time resident of the island he is a great source of information.

Swimming. Great little pool, no beach access here, but you don’t have to drive far for beaches/swimming/snorkeling or diving.

Cottage. Clean and modern, World Phone, Internet access, TV/DVD, microwave, blender, oven, utensils, kitchen staples, etc. Beach bags, beach chairs, beach towels, coolers, and snorkel equipment are available as well. No daily maid service, but there is a nice washer and dryer in the cottage.

Food. Cook your own or go out. See prior reviews for great restaurant suggestions, some pricey and some reasonable.

Ambiance. Keeping in mind that you are sharing the property with the owners, Anne seems to be away at work for about 14 hours each day. Bill tends to this and a few other properties, so he may be away or at home at different times, but you won’t know he’s there unless you need to engage him for reasons of your own.

Grand Cayman has an awesome tropical climate, beautiful beaches, and great snorkeling. It is very civilized with great roads (a bit slow going during rush hour). Overall we found the Cayman people extremely friendly and accommodating to their visitors.

Sea Spray Cottage was exactly what we were looking for. We wanted to stay away from the hustle and bustle of SMB and the cruise crowd. Our stay was peaceful and our time enjoyable. The cottage is a little farther away than most other lodgings, but we rented a Jeep to travel at our leisure. A rental car for this location is an absolute must to get to places around the island. The owners, Bill and Anne, do a wonderful job of keeping up the guesthouse and the main property. They are around if you have questions/concerns, but otherwise they are all but invisible. The views from the pool are amazing. We spent mornings by the pool and usually spent afternoons at one of the fabulous beaches on the island. We would return to shower before dinner then head out for the night. We didnt spent a lot of time at the cottage, but it definitely served its purpose and suited all our needs. There are a few local "Jerk shacks" close to the cottage which serve lunch/dinner. Seaside Paradise and Rankins both had outstanding food, and are good value. To get to a larger assortment of restaurants you will have to drive to SMB or Georgetown, about 25 min. Also, we snorkeled at the Turtle Nest Inn, who handles the bookings for the cottage. The people at TNI treated us wonderfully as well. Their property is beautiful and great snorkeling can be had out their back door. Overall we had a great time and would go back in an instant. We wholeheartedly recommend Sea Spray Cottage. Restaurants we would recommend: Agave Grill (Mexican), Mezza (? Mediterranean), Eats Cafe (Great breakfast), Rankins Jerk Centre (local fare), Seaside Paradise (local fare), The Brickhouse (little of everything).
