“Cool little museum.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

Lots of WWII materials and artifacts to help you get a better understanding of what soldiers carried, or what the Germans used in their defenses. There is also a short movie that will further help you grasp a little more of what was going on in 1944, right near where you are seated! Look at the barbed wire, and see the difference between farm and military wire. The land mines soldiers had to over come. Lots of historical photos worth looking at.

“Really worth the time.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013

If you did your homework, this place is even more impressive. The articles left from the battle are quite amazing. You are able to touch and get pictures with some real parts of history. They have done a nice job of adding over the years.

“Must visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

This isn't as nice as the Utah museum but you still need to visit it. It is loaded with great information about the Omaha beach landing

“Please do not confuse with the musee memorial omaha”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2012

I came across this place looking for the musee memorial omaha and mistook this to be it, an old hanger type building, it is rammed with weapons and equipment placed in a diorama style, but has no charisma and little in the way of historical learning. Its just a collection of stuff on display, as though your walking thru a workshop with stuff to look around at. The most interesting items are all outside. If your in a rush and want to see lots of places, scrub this one of the list, its price is higher than most museums(only a euro or two) but little effort has gone into it. It is not a member of the Normandie pass, and the woman seemed angry when i showed it to her.

So unless u have the time or inclination, carry on down to the musee memorial omaha, on the left at the next roundabout going east. Its the one museum i came away from feeling annoyed about going to of the dozens visited.

“A disappointment”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2012

Judging by the others reviews, this is what we would know as a Marmite place - you either love it or you loathe it. I have been to Normandy 4 times now and with a teenage son who is military mad we have been to just about all the museums (except - oddly enough, the ones immediately on the British/Canadian landing beaches - couldn't get parked).
I had really hoped to find a gem but what I found was a lot of individually interesting items but crammed into too small a space and with virtually no attempt at signage or interpretation (certainly not in English) - and it is all mixed up - did they have an earthquake that turned it upside down and shook everything together?
The good thing about the many D-Day museums large and small is that you can get a different theme or perspective from each - and that is what makes it worth going to them. This one left me cold. It needs a re-vamp by someone who knows how to display material - the owners should go to the museums at Utah, Bayeaux, Pegasus Bridge, St Mere E'glise and learn. The items they have are too valuable to be displayed so badly.
