Dunkery Beacon Country House within the Exmoor area: This was our first stay in the House and can say we were very pleased with the accommodations. John and Jane, the new owners for the past 6 months, have taken special care to make the rooms very nice. We had two rooms and both had beautiful views across the valley and both were very nicely decorated. Our rooms at the House have been spacious, warm and quiet, exactly what we needed for restful sleeps after daily 8-12 mile circular hikes, and the beds were very comfortable. The food at every meal has been fresh, delicious and on the light side. Because John and Jane are interested in building a successful and welcoming hotel, they welcome customer feedback. I mentioned to John on our arrival that I liked black pudding and by the next morning it was available for breakfast even though it was not on the normal menu. Jane also helped us arrange transportation to nearby town for us when we needed it as well. We enjoyed our stay and hopefully we will be able to return sometime in the future.
