“Amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2013

We had a one night stay but wish it had been more. Beautifully renovated house complete with everything you could possibly want. Perfect hosts who looked after our very need..... and more! Breakfast in the 500 year old restaurant was fantastic. Rooms basic? I don't think so! This is out-of-the-way Italy and for me the place is exactly as it should be. Rustic ,yes ,but with everything you could possibly need. Breathtaking views over Lake Como. Full marks and more from us!

Highly recommended place to stay in quiet, hillside village location. The drive up to the village was a great adventure in itself! The rooms at the B&B are basic but exactly what we needed as the first stop on our holiday. The espresso machine in the shared kitchen was a life saver, as was the bottled water and fresh fruit. The hosts were warm and very accommodating - when we needed a dentist for one of our childre during our stay, they went out of their way to assist us, arranging an appointment for us with one of their contacts. Also, the food at the adjoining restaurant (owned by the same family) was a great place to eat. The food was hearty, traditional Italian fare and the prices were vey reasonable. Lastly - the views from our rooms were incredible - we would see all over the northern parts of Lake Como. A great place to stay!

Accommodation is basic - our room shared its bathroom (on another floor) with another - but clean, spacious and stocked with cooking facilities, fresh fruit and coffee. Other rooms have excellent views so take a bit of care in picking yours. Our hosts were lovely and incredibly accommodating, even giving us lifts to and from nearby (very beautiful) Varenna. The cooking course in Il Caminetto opposite is a must-do activity if staying in the area. The tiny hamlet of Gittana has little to offer itself, but gives access to great walking up and down the valley (beware Italian signposting and take a detailed map!) and is only around 40-60mins walk from Varenna.

Highly recommended.

We arrived at 9PM, and in spite of the late arrival the welcoming was warm and the hostess was very friendly. She introduced the house and offered some fresh fruits and espresso to us. The village was small and cozy.

We woke up early and decided to continue our journey before breakfast. After three hours we received a surprise call from our booking agency. It turned out that the room had not been charged from our credit card, and we had left with out paying! However, since the agency had our credit card number, we did not have to return to handle the payment but they charged our card afterwards. Props to the staff for handling the situation so graciously.

All in all, highly recommendable place for an authentic Italian B&B.

I stayed here in April, but forgot to write a review until now. However, the Christmas card I received from Moreno and family reminded me that I needed to write that stellar review I'd been planning to write last spring. I spent a week at Ca' Noeva and completely fell in love with Lake Como. Moreno, Rosella, and Francesca are wonderful and made me feel right at home in their beautiful B&B. My view of the lake was gorgeous, the fresh fruit and homemade cakes were exquisite, and my stay was nothing short of perfect. I took Moreno's cooking class as well, and would highly recommend it. We made delicious pasta, gnocchi, and risotto, and I was blown away by the tastes of his fresh ingredients. If you have a chance to stay here, you'll never want to leave!

We stayed here in August. Moreno went out of his way to make us feel welcome. I am gluten intolerant. Upon our arrival there was a generous basket of delicious gluten free breads, cookies, crackers and pasta. some of these I had never seen before because they are the Italian "Schar" brand, which was nearly impossible to find in the US. We did not have a car and that was no problem. It was easy to arrange a lift into Varenna (about 10 minute drive) and back by Moreno or one of his colleagues at the local taxi company. The B&B is spacious and clean. The village is lovely. One gets the sense that the same families have lived in this village for centuries and the way of life hasn't much changed. I participated in Moreno's cooking class at his restaurant across the street, which was a highlight of my vacation, because of Moreno's demonstration of authentic local cuisine, as well as the friendly, fun people I met from all over the world. He readily accommodates different dietary concerns when asked.

We stayed here for 4 nights in October. We were met by Moreno's daughter at the train. Transportation was never a problem, as Moreno was always available to drive us down to Varenna, the train, or ferry. Varenna is a beautiful setting on Lake Como and the sea walk is inviting and beautiful. It is a great base to visit other Lake Como villages. We ate at IL Caminetto restaurant for breakfast and for dinner two nights. One night, Moreno prepared soup for us to take back to our B&B dining room. We were the only ones staying at the B&B so chose the LOVE room...it has a beautiful view, but our weather was not as clear and sunny as we had wished. The only drawback is not having a bathroom on the same floor, but we knew this when we booked our reservation. It was enchanting to walk around the village of Gittana and the ride up the curvy mountain road from Varenna is a treat in itself. Moreno, Rosella, and his entire family made us feel very welcome. It was true Italian hospitality. We also attended his cooking school which was absolutely fabulous...you must do this when you visit! We would love to return someday and renew acquaintances with this beautiful Italian family.

Room Tip: choose the Love room with view of the lake
