“Perfect place to stay and enjoy Lake Como”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2010

We stayed here for the last week of April 2010 (in between ash clouds!) and had a wonderful time. Paul and Nicole made us feel so welcome, and were so helpful & knowledgable about the area.

The B&B is a beautiful villa with stunning views over the lake (take a look at the website). We stayed in the spacious, self-catering studio apartment on the second floor and had our own balcony with table and chairs where we could sit out and enjoy the views of the lake and gardens.
The kitchen was well equipped - with every implement we could possibly need. This made it very easy to self cater on the couple of evenings we decided to stay in.

A lovely breakfast was left outside our door each morning which included fruit, pastries, crusty rolls, yogurts and juice and there were also loads of little extras in the apartment that made it special; freshly ground coffee to use in the cafetiere, milk in the fridge, olive oil and seasonings.

Argegno is a great location to explore Lake Como from. It is easily accessed even without a car, by bus or ferry. We hired a car from Malpensa airport when we arrived but ended up leaving it at the B&B most days and exploring by boat or bus (and by cable car from Argegno to Pigra). There's a choice of several good restaurants, cafes and bars in the small town centre 10mins walk away, also a baker/grocers and even a gelateria (amazing ice-cream!)

Photos of the B&B show that it is set steeply up from the road but even at 7 months pregnant I didn't have a problem with this. Also even though is it situated near the main road around the Lake (as most hotels are) the short walk to the town was down a quiet path. There was some road noise in the apartment but we only noticed this on our 1st night (a Saturday), when it was particularly busy, after this we didn't notice it at all.

We would highly recommend this B&B - in our opinion it's everything a good B&B should be and very reasonably priced. We'll definitely visit again when our bambino arrives!

We had a fabulous week at the end of October in Argegno, on the west of the lake, with Nicole and Paul. As well as providing all of the usual B&B kindness and friendliness, they can advise where to go and what to see, and equally importantly where is good to eat. They are located five minutes from the lake side boat pier. We've now been four times we love it so much. They also have a self-catering apartment with breakfast for those who like to be more adventurous in the wonderful food markets in the villages on the lake. Almost forgot to say the views are spectacular from the apartment balconies! Sitting eating breakfast or drinking an early evening glass of fizz overlooking the lake is just fabulous. We will be returning again without a doubt.

While touring Lake Como this past May, we were lucky enough to stay in a B&B in the town of Argengo, owned by an English couple, Paul Wright and his partner Nicola. First, it was a very good value (only 60 Euro per night) even though we had a wonderful unobstructed view of the lake. This price included a nice breakfast, complete with fresh fruit every day. Both Paul and Nicola are a fountain of knowledge regarding the culture and history of the region, and recommended numerous activities and tours to keep us busy. We had many wonderful conversations with them, and they made sure that we had a great time. They have definitely made some friends in us, and we whole-heartedly recommend this place! Argengo is ideal as a base for exploring the mid-lake region, with easy bus and boat access to the more touristy towns but without the crowds and noise. Also, check out Paul's unique art. http://www.wrightart.com/

We stayed with Paul and Nicole at their fabulous bed and breakfast in June 2009 and were very impressed. It was spotlessly clean with magnificant views over Lake Como. The breakfasts were delicious with a great variety and fresh fruit. The B & B is only about a 5 min walk to the lovely village of Argegno where there are plenty of restaurants, bars, a bakery and little supermarket and the boat ramp where you can access all other villages on the Lake. There is also a bus stop right out the front of the B&B that takes about 20 mins to get to Como. Paul and Nicole were great and nothing was too much trouble. We travelled Italy and France for 5 weeks and this was our best accommodation and definitely the best value for money. Book it, you won't be disappointed.

We booked Paul Wright b and b after reading Trip Advisor and were not disappointed. Although the villa is at the top of 83 steps the climb reveals a magnificent home with absolutely spectacular views. These were from the balconies of the main lounge and the two guest bedrooms. The house is spotlessly clean and tastefully furnished with Pauls paintings adourning the walls. There is a self catering bedsit on one floor with Pauls own accomodation on the floor above. Two bedrooms of his private apartment are designated for b and b together with a shared private bathroom for guests. Paul is particularly attentative without being too intrusive; nothing is too much trouble for him. Nicole is equally helpful when not at work. We particularly enjoyed the breakfasts which were simple, plentiful, fresh and of good quality. Value for money.

Looked at many photos of Argegno and lake como before we went but were in awe of the views when we arrived.

Stayed with Paul and Nicole...............fantastic bed and breakfast, great room, clean, comfortable and the best views ever! They also have a lovely appartment. Oh .. and the Breakfast! WoW!

Staying with English12 hosts was a fantastic bonus...heaps of local knowledge eg where to find the best places to eat, advising of boat trips to the most picturesque, tiny villages on the lake, where to get the cable car to Pigra (unmissable)

An enchanting area, particularly Argegno, ( with its arched walkways, its historic buildings) an ancient village just a few minutes on foot from the spectacular villa which we stayed in.

Unspoiled promenade, atm machine, great boat connections, and the greatest restaurants and bars in historic buildings.
Restaurant to die for. "barchetta" opposite the boat terminal ...
