“Leger Picturebook Italy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

Stayed for 3 nights as part of Leger Picturebook Italy Tour. Had a room overlooking the lake so beautiful view. Breakfast was plentiful & self service. Portions at dinner were not very big & would not suit someone with health appetite (fine for us), not sure if this was because we were part of a coach tour though. The other thing to be aware of if staying as part of an organised tour is that they will charge you for WiFi even though their website says it is free, apparently its only free for people who book accomodation direct with hotel.

This hotel has the advantage to be on the right side of the busy road with a large private parking. The swimming pool is very clean and the views from the terrace are astonishing. The evening set menu with choice of first and main course is really great.A special thanks to the waitress Serena who seemed to be always in a very mood and brought sunshine to the table even when it rained outside. The room on the 4th floor had a large terrace and a panoramic view on the lake. I would only suggest to the owner to change the sunbeds at the pool, the ones on the room terrace are much more comfortable and loungy. But I would really recommend this hotel for couples who like to chill and enjoy a good glass of wine.

Very nice and peacefull beach.Total relaxation. No towels, no service at the beach (shoul be for this price). Entrance into the water could be much cleaner.Staff could move some rocks and take better care of sand etc.
Very average food at high prices. Long waiting for service. Please hire better cook.
Rooms ok, especially on top floor. First floor rooms very noisy especially during weekend. Can hear every word from growned floor bar.

We love Italy...we love Lago Maggiore...and we LOVE Hotel Ghiffa!!!
Do you wanna know why? Because it's uncomplicated. If you ASK, everything is possible. ASK what you like for breakfast or for dinner and you get it. ASK when the airconditiong does not work as you want and it is controlled.
The owners and staff are the most friendly people you could wish for holiday, but you can never please everyone, and how friendly are yourself?
We write this because of a few negative comments, but let these people PLEASE stay at home, than only the sweet and pleasent people are comming back. See YOU next year!!!

This Is the best place on Lago Maggiore, wonderful view, excelent food and superb service.
The director and all the staff is really friendly and kind.
The swimming pool Is really amazing, clean and relaxing. You can have a nice drink in the nearest bar
The Hotel has a useful pier, where you could dock your boat and have pleasant lunch: try all kind of "pasta" and
Hotel Ghiffa's fabolous club sandwich.
We suggest you to come here soon.

The only good thing is basically the location, right at the lake. Wonderful views if you geta lake view room. But that's it.

We had to ask on the second day if someone would clean our room and change towels as they seemed to have forgotten us. It was very difficult.
Prices for the food are overrated and not worth for what you get. Breakfast would be ok for a three star hotel maybe. Staff mostly only speaks Italian - guests are obviously all but Italians. No service at the concierge. Maybe it was the first time someone asked for bus connections? Just that was too much already.

The hotel boss "Flavio" was very enthusiastic in service for the big boat owners...not for normal guests.

No service at the hotel own beach...one always has to get up and try to find staff to get a drink or such. Nevertheless, the female staff was at least somewhat friendly. With the male staff I got the impression I had to excuse myself for asking for something.

After all I only wonder where this four star rating comes from. It's rather a three star and not one of the good ones.
