“lovely small complex”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

great place- 5 minutes out of the small village. A series of adobe style rooms linked around a lovely garden. Great views of the hills
great resturant in the evening, but breakfast a bit hit and miss
very good service

Tucked under some of the red sandstone cliffs; this is a lovely hotel built in traditional adobe style. Has a hotel building and individual cabins..Go for a cabin. They are is some cases cheaper and a re away from the noisier (and older) hotel bit. Cabins are comfortable, clean and interesting but "no frills". No aircon. No Wifi anywhere when we were there. Good buffet breakfast. restaurant probably the best in town...

Room Tip: Go for a cabin...

This hotel is in a good setting but it is expensive for what is only an average hotel. We also had a great deal of difficulty opening the door with the key and had to wait for the staff to come and do it for us. We ate an average breakfast with ear-splitting noise from renovations taking place in the kitchen nearby.

We stayed for 2 nights and had a very spacious room with large double bed and 2 extra single beds. The restaurant was very pleasant and food was excellent with choices of local specialities. The immediate setting in front of the 7 coloured hills is fantastic and the village of Purmamarca is only a few minutes walk away from the hotel, though we chose not to walk at night. It is a perfect location for exploring the Quebrada de Humahueca and on our 2nd day drove almost up to the Bolivian border - stunning scenery. Our only complaint - and a minor one - was the total lack of information available about either the hotel facilities or the surrounding area. The staff were friendly but rather more reserved than other areas of Argentina.

The hotel was booked for us by Imagine Latin America as part of a multi centre trip, so we had only one night in Purmamarca. We wish we'd had longer to explore the area and take advantage of the setting and the hotel's facilities. We used the pool briefly, and ate at the restaurant - the distance from town and the lack of time meant that our choice was restricted - trying unusual regional dishes, which were very good.
We were surprised that the road alongside the complex was not noisier, but maybe we were lucky with our room allocation - we had an extra window too, to allow us to enjoy the changing light on the unbeleivably colourful hills and the pretty garden.
The staff members were rather formal, compared to our experience elsewhere in Argentina, but not unpleasant.

When we opened the door to our room on arrival it was the last time the lock was operable as it was jammed and the staff was not able to repair it and remained locked during our visit. Lucky for us there was a rear door that we were able to use to enter and exit our room.
The room had a little more furniture than a jail cell, no temperature control and it was the same as staying in a sauna and the room had flies flying around which I was able to rid most of them.
The so called unprofessional management and the staff appeared to all be under 30 years old and showed no guest interaction with an outward attitude that they did not care whether we stayed at La Comarca or not.
As it was Christmas Eve we had no choice except to dine at the Hotel and were charged the equivalent of $USD 50.00 per person for a meal that was less than adequate for value received.
Breakfast which was included was no better.
Upon check out there was no mention or apologies by the morning manager of the problem of the locked room door and no effort to show a gesture of good will to adjust the hotel bill.
The Hotel is well located but it is evident that the property is run by absentee owners who should be embarrassed that they think this Hotel can robotically run itself with untrained staff.
I recommend that this is one property to avoid in the area and there are other better choices of hotels there.

Room was ok, in the style of modern real estate development, but the setting is surreal--absolutely gorgeous. Pleasant restaurant and very nice staff.
