“Excellent food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013 via mobile

We can't fault this inn at all. We stayed at a local b&b for three nights and walked down the road for a meal every night. The food is excellent. If you like your curry with a bit of a kick to it then this is the place for you, not like must restaurants bland curries and chillies. We only wished we lived close enough to visit on a regular basis. Unfortunately Sussex is a bit far for an evening meal.

“Great Sunday lunch value and nice staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

The pictures you see here are not right but the website shows the place as it really is. Remote and in the countryside, this is a charming little place with several rooms and a large garden with space for children to play. The Sunday lunch was very good and I understand the cook does some really good stuff during the week too. The atmosphere is warm and the rooms contain lots of interesting things to look at.
If you are going to visit Cothay Manor, this is a good place to have a bite to eat. Also if you are in the Wellington area. The website contact page gives you directions, which you are likely to need.

“From Good to Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

In a region renowed for its lack of good restaurants, the Globe proves to be the exception to the rule. The Globe is more than 500 years old, with real stone walls a metre thick with real fires in the grate.

We last visited it in October 2012 and the menu was very good then. Since that time, under new management, the warming fires are still there but the menu has gone from very good to excellent.

Last year's menu has been updated and expanded. The menu's innovative, designed to suit all tastes, and is well priced given the quality on offer. It attracts a well-deserved five stars.

“Very nice country pub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

It's a small place, with an unusual layout, and not easy to find. It has a nice selection of local beers, and in our opinion, excellent pub lunches. Despite it being busy, we experienced really good service. There is an attractive, peaceful garden, with a swingset for young children. We shall definitely return.

“Poor”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

We booked a family meal for 10 adults during a recent stay in the area. The globe was recommended by the owners of our holiday cottage and was mentioned a few times in their visitor book. However the experience was dire. When we arrived we were escorted to a lone table aqueezed diagonally in a small draughty back room. The waitress had an attitude and was quite sarcastic on occasion. The food was poor, it was burger night but the burgers were ordinary by any standard and the other meals were no better and not hot enough. As well as all this in order to get a drink at the bar you have to push (they won't move) through a bunch of rude locals who block the passageway.
The experince was so poor that Iintended to complain but judging by the general attitude of staff & customers thought there was no point.
On a positive note the property has character and with better food and attitude could be worth a visit. Until then don't bother
