Having driven for three hours and with an hour to spare before I could book into my hotel, I decided to have a drink and a sandwich in the adjacent 'Pub'. Not wanting a meal, I opted for a sandwich from the extensive menu. The picture showed a very full club sandwich, that was not what I got. For 5p short of a fiver, I received a none descript sandwich on two slices of rather ordinary brown bread served with some tortilla chips and a very limp (not eaten) salad. The beef was cut into strips, a fact that allowed the chef to place air in between the gaps. The meat showed on the edges, but did not meet in the middle. The meat was only slightly chewy, but the sauce was tasteless. This was a sandwich that you would have paid less than half the price had you purchased it in a supermarket. However, putting the sandwich aside, the biggest shock for me was the price of a pint of lemonade. It was at £3.35ponly 17p less than a pint of a very famous Irish porter beer. The mark up must have been over £3.00p. Poor food and expensive lemonade, in mediocre surroundings mostly resembling a plastic pub served by indifferent staff.
