“Airport Hotel just next to Malpensa Airport”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013 via mobile

This Hotel is very close to the Milan Malpensa Airport. It is exactly what you expect - an ordinary Holiday Inn Express with free breakfast buffet.

The great benefit is that there is a shuttle bus between the airport and the Hotel.

The room was was expected, clean and simple. Surprisingly the room was silent thru the night althought the Airport is very close.

We booked this hotel for one night because we were flying in from Prague to Milan late in the day and wanted to catch the Malpensa Express Train to Como the next morning. We'd read good things about the new hotel on Trip Advisor and decided to give it a try. I had contacted the hotel a month before to pin down the shuttle. I remembered several Trip Advisor travelers mentioning problems with the shuttle and advice. I emailed the hotel and told them when we would be arriving on Easy Jet, in Terminal 2. They sent back an email with the shuttle schedule and told us to call when we landed and a shuttle would pick us up. Once we landed and got our bags, we walked out side the terminal. We called the hotel. They told us their shuttle already left Terminal 1 and would not return for an hour!! I looked at the schedule and we had not missed the time we were to be picked up at Terminal 2. I argued on the phone with the front desk clerk. She told me that those arriving in Terminal 2 were on a call basis (not subject to the schedule). I knew that the hotel was 5 minutes away and asked her if she could send the driver. She refused. We didn't want to stand in front of the terminal for another hour. We were exhausted and wanted to check in. So, we bit the bullet and paid a taxi driver $15.00 Euros ($20.00 US) to drive us less than 5 minutes to the hotel. It was outrageous and would never have happened in the US.
Once in the spartan room with a dorm style feel, we were greeted by a hard, horrible bed and pillows. The shower head apparatus looked new, but kept falling down. There was an a/c hum all night and, I saved the worst for last, we could smell smoking in our room. In the middle of the night, I contacted the front desk to complain that someone was smoking next door. Wasn't this a non-smoking floor? I was told that our ROOM was non smoking, but each floor had designated smoking rooms. One was next door. GREAT! We couldn't even move because each floor had smoking rooms!! I ended up opening up the futon next to the bed to try to get comfortable and putting a pillow over my head to drown out the a/c noise and smoking smell. My husband and I agreed it was the worse night we'd had on our 5 country, 8 hotel trip. WELCOME TO ITALY!
The only thing positive I can say about this hotel was the great buffet dinner and breakfast. You pay for the dinner, but it was plentiful and good. The servers were quick and professional with a can-do attitude. Same with breakfast.
Unfortunately, this wasn't enough for us ever to return or recommend the hotel.

Room Tip: If smoke bothers you, there are no non-smoking floors. Skip this hotel.

Dear Guest DiscriminatigDiv... thank you for your stay in our hotel. We are really sorry to read about your dissatisfaction with some aspects of your stay and we apologize for it. We would like to take the opportunity to clarify some situations. Regarding the shuttle bus service, as you also wrote, we have a schduled timetable clearly available on our website too. For guests arriving in Terminal 2 the shuttle service is on request and follows the time of terminal 1. If you missed just for few minutes the bus run, you had to wait the next one or you could be free to catch a taxi. We have a schduled timetable and we have to respect it, first of all because our free shuttle service is very expensive and if we do an exception for one guest, we should do it for everybody. Considering the price of the room, we are sure to offer a great value for money service, greater than what we should offer. Regarding the description of the room we understand we can not meet everyones personal taste, but our rooms are new and well designed, perfectly fiiting and exceeding our brand standards. We apologize if you could breathe the smoke coming from another room, it is very strange and we will check if the door do not perfectly protect. We are happy that you enjoed your meals. We do thank you for your time, our best regards.

The Holiday Inn Express is perfectly located for travelers who want a room close by the airport for an early morning flight. The hotel is new and the rooms clean and spacious. The only negative of the hotel is there was not a restaurant in the hotel and the closest one was in the Crowne Plaza down the road which was not where I wanted to eat in my last evening in Italy. If you are driving eat before you get to the hotel.

Room Tip: Stay away from the elevator.

Clean, new and big rooms. Free shuttle from and to the airport, good breakfast. Exactly what we were looking for from airport hotel. They provide one hour of internet connection for free and you have to pay if you need additional time, but since we stayed only for one night, it wasn't a problem.

Once I stayed there 2 weeks ago and without any doubt this style of hotel is something I'd like to find all over the world. The rooms are comfortably spacious... good beds and everything perfectly clean. It's a simple style but everything's there ...warm colors. Then the lobby is bright and the saloon where a very good breakfast is served is nicely decorated in those warm colors and once again ...you get a good feeling of clean hygiene no matter where you are. If you stay there overnight between flights or just to relax ...the surrounding is nice and quiet ...and there are some small very good local restaurants just a few minutes walk from the hotel. The hotel offers a nice little sitting area outside by the entrance. The staff is very helpful and kind. Highly recommended!

If you are flying into Italy and its a late flight try a stopover. we had a one night stay. Reception were friendly and helpful. The room was excellent, including a free safe and the usual trimmings. Breakfast buffet was very good with rolls, croissants, cheese, meats, jam and yogurts, coffee and tea. A good filling start to the day. There is a free pick up from the airport. As you come out of the airport look out for the mini bus marked Crowne Plaza/ Holiday Inn, which is supposed to run every 20 minutes. You can't book it you just wait. If you need it the following day as we did just wait at reception, again supposed to be every 20 minutes. It dropped us off at the airport railway station where we travelled to Milan Central. If you are using the trains book them on line and make a saving through Trenitalia (cost £37 return to Peschiera del Garda). Was told it was slightly cheaper by rail, but a much longer journey. There is a great pizzeria only about 5 minutes away, take a left out of the hotel car park and left at the next junction and about 20 yards on and there you are.

For the price and location you couldn't beat it 53 euros with free transport to and from Terminal 1 . We ate the Crowne plaza some 300 metres away. One of the best and cheapest hotels I have stayed at.Also one free hour of wifi.
