“A slice of heaven!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2012

Stayed 8th to 10th July 2012. this is a little slice of heaven in the tuscan countryside. The hosts are fantastic and so welcoming. The property is beautiful and loads to do. The food is fantastic, especially the homemade limoncello! The cooking class was great fun and the nights under the stars were amazing. Very relaxing by the pool but need to remember to take some supplies, such as drinks & snacks as cant walk to shops and cant really purchase on site. Definately get the meal package as there is plenty to eat and drink and so tasty.

Staying here was what I had imagined if I were to rent a villa in Tuscany. Just the right combination of ellegance and age with amazing food prepared by the local staff who will help you learn their techniques and ingredients. Family owners make you feel you are their most special guest and are able to help you arrange just about any outing you can think of. Daily trips into town to catch a train to other sites are easy even though this is rural Tuscany. We loved the wonderful walks in the country looking out over fields and vinyards or hanging out by the pool as well. Rooms were well equipped and homey with great beds. Our apartment was more like a small house with three bedrooms and two baths plus a full kitchen which we never used as the food was over the top wonderful. Would definitely return.

I have been lucky enough to have visited il Grande Prato a number of times in late spring. Most recently June 3 - 10, 2012. Arriving there immediately invites you to take a deep breath and let the worries of the world disappear. The setting is exactly what you would hope the Tuscan countryside would look like. The accomodations of this agriturismo are lovely and can work for anything from a single traveller, couple, family gathering or a group of 20+. The food is home cooking at its best. Each lunch and dinner creates a "can't wait" level of anticipation from the guests and never disappoints. Besides the beauty of the setting, the great location and food, what makes Grande Prato so special are the wonderful hosts. Giulia has endless energy and patience, besides being one of the most charming people you will ever meet. Her mother-in-law is always around helping in the kitchen or bringing out one of her homemade liquers at the end of the evening and makes everyone laugh with her jovial sense of humor. A perfect respite after time in a busy area of Tuscany, like Florence. The only difficult part is leaving.

I’ve been at Grande Prato in the end of May 2012.
This farmhouse is the best way to enjoy Tuscany under many points of view, first of all the atmosphere. Grande Prato is exactly how you are imagining Tuscany.
The Pente’s family, Giulia, Vito and their two sons made me feel like home thanks to their care and attention to details.
The house is surrounded by the spectacular Chianti vineyards and immersed in the quiet of the Tuscan countryside.
Each part of Grande Prato is furnished in a sophisticated Italian style and each room and corner of it display the welcoming personality of the landlords.
There are facilities for any kind of need, swimming pool, space outside and inside for hosting big groups, couples, families with kids.
The location of Grande Prato is also remarkable independently from the kind of activity you want to do. If you want to enjoy long walks in the Tuscan countryside you’re in the right place, otherwise it’s just 40 minutes away by car from Florence and around the same from Siena.
San Gimignano, Volterra and Pisa are also very easy to reach form here.
I wanted to visit a lot of things in the surroundings although as soon as I got there I thought “this is exactly where I want to be for the rest of my stay”. The little village close by, Castelfiorentino, offers itself nice restaurants and bars where it’s possible to taste a bit of the richness of this region. A train from Castelfiorentino is also a good option to reach Florence and Siena. It takes about 40 minutes and leaves every 30 muntes.
Last, but not least, Grande Prato provides amazing food options which I absolutely recommended, you won’t be disappointed.
Get a glass of Chianti and enjoy your stay!

We have been staying at Grande Prato many times, during Summer and Spring, with family and once even for a business seminar, and we have never been disappointed. The place is fantastic, with a warmth and taste that were clearly hardwon by the owners, Giulia and Vito. Both originally from Milan, they decided 15 years ago to try and live differently (better) and started this place. And boy, have they succeeded! If you're looking for the quintessential Tuscan experience, great atmosphere, perfect views and wonderful food, look no further. Prices are affordable too, so you will be hard pressed to find something to spoil the experience.
