“I want to go back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2010

After being a regular customer to the bar food, we decided to stay a night as part of the 'Last Minute' deals. Upon e-mailing, we were upgraded to a suite. WOW. All I can say is a suite at the 'Last Minute' deal price was AMAZING value. I'm not a tight-wad, but I don't waste money either. I really think we got value for money here. The hot tub is great for watching the sun-set. The staff couldn't have been friendlier, they really make an effort to make you feel at home and comfortable without being intrusive. The breakfast was a buffet, so we were able to stock up on bacon, sausages, pudding, egg, toast and all the other usuals including continental if you're feeling healthy. There was one minor issue which was dealt with upmost professionalism, the receptionist actually listened to us rather than the usual "I'm just doing my job, bugger off" that you get at most places. All in all, I WILL be back!

Just back from our stay in Lisloughrey Lodge and we had a wonderful time. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with smiling staff who went out of there where to help us. It's hard going away with two small kids but we did so on the recommendation of friends who raved about this hidden gem.

The rooms were spacious and very luxurious, I could have just stayed in the duplex all weekend relaxing. On our second night we had a six course dinner in the restaurant Salt. The hotel organised a lovely girl to come in to look after the kids so it was great to relax and take our time over dinner knowing that the kids were well looked after. The food was delicious and the chef went out of his was to cater for my husbands special diet.

Next day we took a short drive to Cong. We packed a picnic and went swimming while my husband caught up on a bit of fishing. The location is out of this world we just relaxed for two days and forgot all about the pressures of real life. My only complaint was checking out time we didn't want to leave!

After a disappointing first stay at Lisloughrey last year, our second two night stay this year was most impressive. Staff were very attentive and helpful throughout our stay in all areas from check in & bar area to house keeping. Lovely spacious room with private patio outside. The food in Salt was as fantastic as the first time and service was impeccable on this visit. Wonderful weather also helped to show the absolute charm of Lisloughrey - a very relaxing and enjoyable stay and will definately return.

The interior designer who dreamed up the decor in this establishment should be forbidden from repeating this type of project. The building which houses the bedrooms and suites was tacked on to what was once a most beautiful property. This formerly splendid country house has been ruined by tacky and nasty looking decor. The rooms are perhaps too large and the furnishings are reminiscent of celtic tiger excesses but poor quality prevails. Cheap and nasty soft furnishings. The website boasts toiletries from L'Occitance but these were not present. Instead we got most unpleasant products from allegrini intimates. The food at breakfast was good save for the coffee which was so strong a spoon could stand up in the cup. Why not give proper coffee in a cafetiere instead of the bogwater served? The property is in a great location and there is lots to do locally as it is positioned next to Connemara. Its a pity a little more money was not spent on the decor and the house and bedrooms done properly. It would make all the difference.

We have just returned from a fantastic 3 night stay midweek stay at Lisloughrey Lodge. We stayed with our toddler and 3 month old baby. We booked a duplex suite which had a bedroom upstairs and downstairs was a little sitting room. ( Sofa, TV, opening out on to a small little patio area). It was perfect as we could watch some TV once the little ones were asleep. There were some gingerbread cookies and some DVD's for our toddler in our room on arrival. This was a lovely touch.
Breakfast was perfect each morning, a nice selection on the cold buffet and plated hot breakfast. We had an enjoyable meal in the bar on one night, the food and service were really good.
The hotel decor is a little quirky, lots of candles, it is a little dark but this adds to the ambiance of the hotel.
Cong is a lovely village, it was great to be able to leave the car walk into the village. We also went on a lake trip on Lough Corrib, this leaves a short distance away from Ashford Castle.
I can honestly say we loved everything about this hotel and are already planning our return visit.

Stayed here recently after reading the good reviews on Tripadvisor. Have to say, was disappointed. The first room we were in was very dark, that was really down to our choice of room, when we changed rooms, we got a lovely bright room. Because we have two very small kids, we almost always have our dinners to the room in whatever hotel we stay in. Prior to making our booking, we checked if it was ok to get the restaurant food to the room in the evenings if possible. The girl we dealt with went off and checked for us and phoned back to say that yes, it was possible to order the restaurant food to the room. However, when we got to the hotel, we were told by staff that the restaurant isn’t opened Monday to Wednesday, and it’s only opened some Thursdays if there is a wedding on the Friday. This meant we were left to order from the bar menu. I have to say, I was really annoyed as we had specifically asked beforehand and there was no mention of the restaurant not being open midweek. Even if we had just been going here as a couple, without kids, I would want to be able to go the restaurant in the evening time. Had we known this, we would not have gone to the hotel, it would have been a definite deal breaker for us! We were told the bar menu was extensive, it didn’t seem that way and the food was just nice, nothing too extravagant but then it was just a bar menu. Having said that, our room was beautiful and kept really clean, the hotel is gorgeous as are the grounds, the staff are really lovely and helpful, I would give 5 stars on those basis alone. However, I have to be realistic, as it wouldn’t suit everyone to stay in a hotel midweek with no restaurant open. It’s a shame we didn’t know beforehand.
